Pre Order Blitz – Forbid Me (The Good Ol’ Boys Series, #2) by M. Robinson

TITLE: COMPLICATE ME
BY: BEST SELLING
AUTHOR M. ROBINSON
RELEASE DATE:
SEPTEMBER 14TH
COVER DESIGN: THE FINAL WRAP
Synopsis:
It was complicated, it was also just the beginning.
A decision.
A simple choice.
There is always that one moment in life where things could
have been different. That one moment where you could have chosen a path that
would lead you down a certain road.
A different life.
It was easier to pretend that we were still best friends,
and that she was my girl and I was her boy.
Pretending was better than knowing the truth…
I. Ruined. Us.
I had her.
I lost her.
I love her.
All I did was complicate us.
★★

My brown eyed girl sat on our blankets with her arms wrapped
around her knees, hiding her face. The tiny frame that I adored so much shook
uncontrollably, only heightening the deepest sobbing that escalated with each
passing second. It was such an intimate moment, not to be shared with anyone,
especially me. Alex didn’t cry. I watched her bawl for the first time in my
life. I had never seen anyone cry like that before, and it shook me to my core,
slicing me whole, and making me feel like I was dying. Carving a memory that I
would take to my grave.
There was no going back…
No erasing.
No do overs.
No deleting.
What I witnessed tonight would be my purgatory; I would now
close my eyes and forever see her falling apart in front of me. Shattering
before my very own eyes and I found it hard to breathe.
Hard to move.
My feet were glued to the goddamn floor as she continued to
weep, sob, bawl, violently sucking in air that wasn’t available. I accepted it
all; each tear that fell from her face becoming pieces of me. Circulating
through my veins and blood, it flowed endlessly, a river of her sadness and
sorrow and of my broken promises. No beginning or ending to her cries, just an
infinite current, flooding the hole where my heart should be. The shadow of her
trembling petite body reflected off the walls, leaving a trail of regrets in
its wake.
Mine.
Hers.
Ours.
Growing up in a small town you overheard a lot of things.
People talking, stories told, town gossip. You listened a lot. You learned a
lot. Tourists, townies, friends, and especially family all shared wisdom and
advice that you think you will never need.
Bunch of bullshit.
They say you have that one moment in life where things could
have been different, that one moment that changes the course of your life or
the direction you could have taken. That one moment that could forever change
you and everything you wanted to be true, everything you wanted to believe.
One simple decision could alter your entire future.
My entire world.
I would forever remember this moment for the rest of my
life. This is the moment that changed everything. This is the moment where I
took another direction, another road that led me to my own demise.
My own regrets.
I should have walked in there. I should have apologized. I
should have begged for her forgiveness. I should have promised that I would
never hurt her again. I should have done whatever it took to make her look at
me the way she had our entire lives.
But I didn’t…
I did none of those things…
Not one.
Nothing was said between us.
No words.
No actions.
I was a coward and couldn’t do it. I couldn’t see her like
that. I couldn’t look into her eyes and know that I had hurt her. That I had
disappointed her. That I ruined her love and lost her respect for me.
The boy who promised he would never hurt her.
The boy who swore he would always protect her.
The boy who vowed he would never let anything happen to her.
That same boy was me.
I was the reason she was bawling.
I was the reason she was hurt.
I was the reason she was broken.
She knew the truth. It had finally caught up to me… I
shattered her illusion that I was hers. I ruined the one good thing I had in my
life. The girl that owned my heart was bleeding out for me in a way that I had
never seen before. The house was no longer our safe place.
I had brought my hurricane with me…
I couldn’t risk the possibility of losing her permanently if
I walked in there and admitted my truths. She wouldn’t love me anymore, she
wouldn’t look at me the same anymore, and she wouldn’t be mine anymore.
My brown eyed girl.
The girl that I had loved all of my life.
The same girl that I would love for the rest of my life.
Alexandra.
I gave her the only comfort I could in her moment of
despair. I turned around and left. I walked down the stairs and got into my
truck. I turned the engine on and drove my sorry ass home. I took a shower and
never once looked at myself in the mirror. I pretended that nothing changed.
That I didn’t cause her pain, and that she didn’t know the truth. That I didn’t
see her sobbing and that she wasn’t even bawling to begin with. That we were
still just best friends, and that she was my girl and I was her boy.
My Half-Pint and her Bo.
It was better than knowing…
I ruined us.

It was only a matter of time until the truth came

I never thought it would come to this…
I tried, God knows I tried to stay away from her but
eventually I crossed that line and broke that trust. I could no longer go back
and I sure as fuck didn’t regret a single moment of it. I knew there would be

She
narrowed her eyes at me and started to walk backwards down the hall and into
her bedroom with me following close behind. Our eyes locked the entire time,
both of us knowing where this was going. She sat on the edge of the bed, while
I leaned my shoulder against the doorframe, my arms folded over my chest with
one leg crossed over the other. I took in her disappointment that I hadn’t
followed her to the bed. I let a few seconds linger between us, wanting to
remember her and this moment.
Just. Like. This.
“Stand up,” I ordered in a
harsh tone.
She didn’t think twice about it.
“Take off your dress.”
She
reached for the hem.
“Slower.”
She gradually lifted her dress over her creamy
thighs, and I rubbed my fingers over my mouth already tasting her. She threw
her dress on the floor and stood in front of me in nothing but her bra and
panties.
“Turn for me.”
She did.
“You’re so beautiful,” I murmured, loud
enough for her to hear. She reached for her bra.
“No.”
She cocked her head to
the side with a questioning expression.
“That’s my job. I get to strip you
completely naked. I get to make you wet. I get to taste you. I get to make you
come. Do you understand me?”
She nodded and swallowed hard. The bedroom was
the only place Lily ever took orders, the thought alone made her wet.
“Lay on
the bed and close your eyes.”
She was about to say something and I arched an
eyebrow. “Be my good little girl and don’t make me repeat myself.”
She crawled
on the bed making sure to give me a view of her voluptuous butt swaying with
each movement she made. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. I pushed
off the wall and ripped off one of the hydrangeas from the vase on her bedside
table. I took off my ball cap, setting it on the edge of the bed and placed the
hydrangea on the tip of her nose. I kept her house stocked with them now just
because I loved seeing her smile every time she looked at them. I spent too
many years not seeing that smile.
I slowly moved it down her body, barely
touching her skin but enough to where it left goose bumps in its wake. Once I
reached her pussy I pressed down firmer, moving it back and forth against her
clit.
She sucked in a breath of air.
I continued to play with her for a few
seconds. Setting the hydrangea on the nightstand, I took off her bra and then
her panties, bringing them up to my face and smelled her wetness.

Synopsis
Penny’s life was in a rut. She had been in the same small town diner for decades—watching others live and love and have adventures—but nothing ever changed for her. Of course, it’s hard to get on with your life when you’re dead. Penny must face a journey from her comfortable but unfulfilled after-life existence to the willingness to embrace what lies ahead for her now. The new ghost in town, the ridiculously handsome, wild biker Jake Thatcher, will stir up feelings Penny thought had been buried with her. She will learn that love (and the desire for it) never dies. But she will also need more than a gentle push to move her life forward—to be willing to let go of false responsibilities and move into The Light. It will require drastic measures from Jake and psychic intervention from Angelina the Magnificent. In the end, Penny will finally be ready to open her heart to the love that the universe still has waiting for her.
excerpt

Jake did not take the news well, but he did better than some. Penny and the others waited without comment while reality sunk in.

Penny had been through this hundreds of times—stood at this counter, witnessed them suddenly arrive, served up a bowl of ice cream, and helped as best she could. Sometimes they moved on quickly, gone before saying a word. Other times, like with Jake and so many young ones, the transition didn’t go so smoothly. It probably didn’t help that this boy was handsome and still filled with adventure and life.

From the look of him he couldn’t be much more than twenty years old. He was going to cling to what he had with all his might. It was written on every inch of him from his wild, brown hair to his black riding boots. Clinging and resisting would be dangerous. Even more dangerous than speeding along Highway 62 on a motorcycle.

Jake was different from anyone else who had passed through the diner. Penny could sense it the minute he appeared. Every individual has a life-force. If you are paying attention, you can feel it in the air around them. Jake had more of a life-tsunami.

Blam! His arrival had sent out a shock wave that vibrated right through Penny’s whole being. She was grateful that he had been disoriented for a minute because it took her that long to regain her composure. From the startled looks they had shot in her direction, Katie and Silas felt it too.

Jake emanated freshness, vitality, and an overwhelming sense of masculine rebellion. No one would dispute the fact that the young biker was ridiculously handsome. There was no denying it. Penny had noticed it when he had visited the diner before. He may not have been able to see her then, but she had most certainly seen him. His charisma and charm enveloped a room the minute he swaggered in, and even a ghost sitting on the sidelines couldn’t help but be impressed.

But now that she was faced with his presence on the verge of moving on to whatever lay ahead, all of that was more of a liability than an asset.

Penny had a job to do. The anger and resistant energy bouncing off the walls of the diner had to be controlled and contained. A dish of ice cream, even the deliciousness of chocolate Bluebell Ice Cream, might not be enough to get the job done this time. Penny needed to be calm and firm and clear. Jake had been given a window of opportunity to adjust to his death, but she doubted it would last for long. This young man was going to need all the help she could muster.

Synopsis

The man of your dreams is coming… or is it your nightmares he visits? Laen is Prince of the Dark fae, with a temper and reputation to match his black eyes, and a heart that despises the human race. When he is sent back through the forbidden gates between realms to retrieve an ancient fae artifact, he returns home with far more than he bargained for.

excerpt

He heard her gasp and saw her fists clench with rage. Good, he wanted her to be angry. It was in anger that she would reveal her true nature.
“Where is the rest of it?”
He watched as Océane tore her eyes from her precious book to glare at him. “What do you mean? That’s all there is.”
“Liar!” he snarled, snatching up the board she had been working on at the museum. There was a half-finished painting of the dagger on it and a chapter heading: The Dark Prince is Lost.
“What is the meaning of this?” he demanded, his voice low and menacing. He watched her face fall as she saw that he had taken the illustration she had been working on at the museum as well as the book.
“It’s just a story,” she said, looking up at him with those big eyes and holding her hands out helplessly. “I had no idea it was your story.” Her voice was pleading and to his disgust he found a part of him wanted to believe her. “I … I thought I was making it up, honestly.”
“What do you know of honesty?” He sneered. “Very well, and supposing I pretend to believe this … preposterous idea, tell me, what happens next?”
He watched the alarm on her face and knew she was hiding something, that she knew something. Before she had time to come up with a decent story, to tell the lies that dripped so easily off the tongues of humans, he acted. He grabbed her by the wrists and slammed her up against the wall. He was so close; he knew she would feel his breath on her face, and he wondered if it were possible for her to actually die of fear as her heart surely could not survive at the rate it was beating against his chest.
“I can see your mind turn, trying to come up with a lie,” he whispered against her ear. “Please do not bother. I will get to the truth, sooner or later, and believe me when I say you will not like my methods of reaching it.” He deliberately looked her over, his eyes lingering on the low neck line of her dress, knowing full well what he was implying and despising himself for it. And yet he couldn’t stop his gaze from raking over her. He looked back at the terror in her eyes and had to remind himself over and again of everything he was protecting. It was so much harder than he would have believed not to touch her with more gentleness than he was doing now. He wondered what it would be like for her to look at him with something other than fear and hatred.
Before he had time to question either his thoughts or his actions, there was a commotion outside the door of the library and raised voices. The door swung open and Laen cursed as the man who entered quickly took in the scene in front of him and the unguarded look in Laen’s eyes.
A delighted smile played over the curve of the intruder’s mouth. “Oh, my dear fellow, do forgive me the interruption. The guards told me you were interrogating a prisoner, but I see they were quite mistaken.”
Laen dropped Océane as though she had burned him, and quickly arranged his face into a more suitable expression. “The guards were perfectly correct, Corin,” he growled, glaring at Océane with hatred.
Corin scrutinised him, his interest piqued. “Well nonetheless, please do not forget your manners. Won’t you introduce me to your charming captive?” He turned to give Océane the benefit of a devastating smile.
Laen’s furious glare drifted from Océane and back to Corin, scowling harder as he saw the way his friend’s warm gaze lingered on her and the returning gleam in Océane’s eyes. He cursed with fury when he saw the realisation dawn on her face. She had finally found a powerful ally.

Synopsis

Mia Ryan was on the path to make all her dreams come true. Her life was everything she wanted it to be; until one fateful night changed everything – leaving her broken and without direction. Nearly a year later, she still has little faith in anyone or anything. Desperate to reclaim her life’s ambition, she takes an unexpected offer that promises to solve all her problems. But as Mia moves forward, she’s faced with obstacles she couldn’t have foreseen. The biggest of them lies within the mystery of Ethan Fitzgerald; a man who affects her like no other, but who she should avoid pursuing, at all costs.

On a mission himself, Ethan Fitzgerald didn’t care who he pissed off on his road to fulfill his mother’s dying wish. He relied on himself, and was closed off to the world around him – until Mia Ryan walked through his door. Normally one to avoid messy emotions, Ethan’s world is turned upside down by Mia, and he can’t seem to get enough of her.

There are lines you can cross that will change the course of your life forever …

excerpt

“What the hell are you doing here? Are you stalking me now?” I snapped.
I attempted to remove his hand, but the effort behind it was marginal. Everything within me relished his hands all over me. My knees became weak with the heavy want coursing between my legs. My upper body constricted with my wayward needs. Ethan tightened his grip as he whirled me around so that my back was on his front. The music shifted to a slow, deliberate song that was fitting for my predicament. I cursed Usher underneath my breath for coming out with this song. Ethan had buried me into his body. It was impossible not to notice his hardness. He ran his hands down the front of my thighs until he hit bare skin.
“It’s hard to stalk someone when they’re in the club that you own,” he shot back.
“You own this place?” I stammered.
“I have a vested interest, so I come in on occasion. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered you were here,” he remarked.
My concentration was dwindling with every stroke he made upon my body. Ethan continued running his hands up and down my thighs, causing my heart to beat out of my chest. I bit my lip to keep from moaning from the pleasure when his fingers lingered towards the inside. My hands took on a mind of their own as they slid down his waist and thighs. His breaths trickled across my neck. It heightened the erotic dance south of me. I was in the danger zone with him. I fought to find my rational side to avoid undressing for him right then and there. My mind grasped at the few functioning brain cells to keep him talking. It was my last line of defense to keep him from kissing me.
“Why are you so upset?”
“I’m angry because you keep denying me when it’s clear you want me. To top it off, you come to my club and dance with countless men right in front of me,” Ethan growled.
He ran his nose down my neck before licking away a bead of sweat. I gasped. The hand that he had moved to my waist slipped underneath my top. He caressed my belly before running his fingers further down, making every ounce of me come to a dull ache. Against my will, my body moved in ways to encourage him to travel further south to take full advantage of me. Ethan’s hands settled along my waistline, lazily trailing his fingers along it. My mind screamed one last time that this was not an option for me. In a lastditch attempt, I paused his hands so he wouldn’t go any further. Ethan whipped me around to face him. The passion in his eyes was unmistakable.
“I’m trying to do the right thing,” I moaned.
His hands drifted underneath my shirt and up my sides on their way north this time. As he progressed along my rib cage to the lower line of my bra, he moved us off the dance floor. Ethan pushed me up against a pillar at the far end of it. He brought his body right into mine. He tossed in an occasional thrust of the hips as he pinned me, just to remind me how very well he knew my body. Ethan cupped my breast with tender strokes of his hand before pressing his lips on a spot underneath my ear lobe. It was enough to melt every part of me. I was throbbing all over for him.
“You want me. I want you. I don’t care what’s right or wrong,” Ethan hissed.
I tilted my neck as he trailed deep kisses down my collarbone and exposed shoulder. I wanted him so much that it was close to making me burst. I moaned even louder when his teeth grazed the crook of my shoulder. He sucked along my neck with eagerness, making no effort to hold back his want for me. I slanted my head to bring my lips vigorously down on his. My tongue drifted across the top of his mouth before his tongue met mine where they danced to the beat with the music around us. My hands moved down to his hips as he pumped against me. I slid them even further down to his ass. Ethan responded by grinding harder and grabbing one of my legs to raise it around his hip.
Our bodies melded together in an erotic dance as our mouths devoured each other. I lost myself in the music, in his lips, in his body, in his hands, and in the desires he brought out in me. His hands ran up and down my body while his lips and hips brought me to the point of no return.

Paxton placed a finger over both my lips and

My name is Jettie Woodruff. I am from Ohio. I don’t know what genre I write in. People tell me I have my own genre. I write whatever I feel, because that’s what makes me happy. I don’t want to be in that box where I can only write one genre. I tend to like my bad boy’s, taboo; touchy subjects that make you want to throw your kindle. Usually at said hot alpha male. Sometimes the female lead as well. My motto is life is short. Very short. If it doesn’t make you happy anymore then why do it? Move on. Some of my favorite things, besides writing are friends, family, and the beach. Music, although my interest has changed after forty, I like the new stuff. Happy Reading.
