Release Day – And So She Waited by Shakuita Johnson

Well it’s ALIVE!!! Release day is here. I couldn’t wait any longer…

**Mature audiences only 18+…contains darker elements and no HEAs**

***Severe psychological issues presented but not addressed or acknowledged***

This is not a story about love, but a story about how love can consume you. Heart, body, and soul. A story of loving someone so much that the love you feel harms you.

Have you ever loved someone so much, that before you realized it, they owed half of your soul?

Raven Sinclair’s first love had always been ballet until she met Remy Peters. She fell hard and she fell fast and never looked back. He was everything she always believed she wanted but he had other plans.

Remy Peters didn’t believe in love and he wasn’t looking for it. He just wanted to have a good time in between classes and swim team. He’s been seeing Raven for over a year and a half and he’s not sure how it’s lasted this long. It’s not like he’s made any commitments but when he stumbles on the prettiest girl he’s ever seen, he knows it’s time to let Raven go.

Matthew Masterson has loved Raven since he first saw her in ballet class when they were five. They have been best friends ever since and he’s not content to stay there. He sees Remy for who he really is and wastes no time in telling Raven every chance he gets but is Raven his happy ever after or does fate have other plans?

Love, lies, and obsession…three lives bound by twisted desires for what they can’t have.

His hands moved up her thighs slowly—too slowly. It was torture. She needed him to touch the place between her legs and stroke her until she was consumed with fire. She wanted him to…

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Raven Sinclair shot up from her bed with a yelp. Holy shit. The dream was back. The same one she had been having for months. She never saw the man’s face, and the dream always ended with his hands sliding up her thighs. Quite frankly, she was sick of the bullshit. She looked over at her alarm clock. It was only four forty-five in the morning. Damnit, she didn’t have to be at her first class until eight. She usually didn’t get up until six, but for some reason her alarm had gone off early. Hopefully she could get another hour of sleep, but she doubted it—stupid fucking dreams. She didn’t know why she was even having them. She had a boyfriend; well, he wasn’t her boyfriend per se, but they spent a lot of time together. Okay, that wasn’t true either; he called when he had the chance. But they loved each other. Well, she loved him, at least. He said he needed time. They had been talking for a year and a half and she was head over heels in love. She would wait forever if she had to. He was worth it. Her friends said she was stupid but screw them. She was in love.

Remy Peters was the one for her. She just knew it in her heart. Ever since she watched him the first day of college in her Freshman Seminar class. He had dirty blond hair, chocolate brown eyes, and the cutest dimples she’d ever seen. He was six feet even and had a lean swimmer’s body. Raven was actually at the Lyrical Muse School Of The Arts on a full scholarship for swimming and ballet, and she would time her workouts to his. She loved to watch him in the water. It was like he was made for it—he exuded confidence, but in a playful, carefree way when he swam. She remembered the first swim meet she had seen him in. He swam like a fish. It was the most amazing thing she had ever seen. He won, of course, and afterward he walked right up to her and asked her out. She was so startled that she squealed and ran out without even looking back. The next day he came and sat right next to her in class. He leaned over and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. Then he told her he would pick her up at eight and that she should wear something comfortable. He bared his teeth in a sexy little smile and that was the first time she had ever seen his dimples. She probably fell in love with him right then.

Raven lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. She knew she wasn’t going to get back to sleep, so no point in trying. She would just use this time to daydream about Remy. She really needed to have a talk with him about their relationship. She wanted to know how he felt about her. Anytime she brought it up he would say things like, “You know how I feel,” or “Isn’t just being together enough?” She would just nod her head and let it go, not waiting to start a fight. This time she would insist that he talk to her. When she allowed herself to think about what she really knew about him, there wasn’t much. He didn’t share a lot of personal information with her and what he did share was stuff anyone would know. She hadn’t met any of his friends and they only spent time together at night. He told her to be patient and that he just enjoyed having her to himself. When he said things like that to her she would forget what she wanted to say to him. It was becoming a vicious cycle. One she needed to get a handle on.

Raven didn’t know when or how he had lodged himself so deeply in her heart, but he was there nonetheless. She didn’t think she would ever want to be without him, nor did she know if she could love anyone else as much as she loved him. In any case, she needed to stop thinking about this.

Raven turned off her alarm and got up to start her day. She stripped out of her black lace and matching panties and jumped into the shower. The hot spray soaked her body, her bare skin glistening amid the steam and heat. Just the way she liked it. She let the hot water massage her tense muscles and soothe away her worries and doubts. She indulged herself for a bit, using these moments to escape her own thoughts, then shampooed her hair and soaped up. Once out of the shower, she air-dried because she hated the lint from the towels clinging to her body.

Raven looked at her reflection in the full-length mirror. Staring back at her was a tiny girl standing at four-feet-ten inches. Her greenish blue eyes stood out against her jet-black hair. Her hair was the reason her mother had named her Raven. It came down the middle of her back and was bone straight. She had layers cut into it to give it a bit of life, and considered running streaks through it to make it look more buoyant, lively. She hated her damn hair. A heart shaped face with high cheekbones and evenly spaced eyes made her look like a child instead of almost twenty. She guessed she would be grateful later when she was forty, but for now it was a pain in the ass. Her Native American Heritage was evident in her skin complexion. It was the only thing about her appearance she didn’t hate. After a final glance in the mirror, she walked over to her ridiculously huge closet. It was jam-packed with the latest styles and it still took her entirely too long to look for things to wear on any given occasion. Today was no different.

Raven shot off a text to Remy to say good morning, as usual.

Morning babe. Have a great day! XOXO Miss you…

She continued to rummage through her closet for something decent to wear. Damn, she needed to go shopping. She settled for a black Supernatural shirt and black crop leggings. After dressing, she combed out her hair and placed it in a high bun on the top of her head, then slipped on her red flats and grabbed her pack and purse.

Her watch assured her that she was still ahead of schedule. As she made her way downstairs from her apartment, she checked her phone. He hadn’t texted back yet.

Raven quickly shot off another text.

Hey babe…you awake yet?

She placed her phone in her bag and walked the three blocks to the bus stop. It was quicker than trying to drive her two-door convertible to the university. Besides, it wasn’t too cold out yet, even though it was January. The snow hadn’t even fallen, which was odd for Boston.

Awesome, the bus wasn’t there yet. God, she hated waiting. Ten minutes passed before she climbed aboard and took a seat. She pulled out her phone to check her messages again, still nothing. Why did he always take so long to text back? Sometimes, he didn’t even text back at all.

After a long sigh, Raven decided to dial his number.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

“Yo, you’ve reached Remy. Leave me a message and I might call you back. Holla.”

“Remy,” Raven breathed, “I’ve texted you like twice. Where are you? Text me or call me back. Bye.”

Gah! She felt like a fucking idiot. They had hardly hung out together over the weekend, and now she wouldn’t be able to see him at all this week due to their different class schedules. She majored in Dance, and he was in Music, so they didn’t have any classes together anymore. It was just by luck that they had the same freshman seminar and psychology class last school year.

Her phone chimed.

“Fucking finally,” she murmured.

She checked the message and was immediately disappointed. It wasn’t Remy. It was her best friend, Matthew Masterson, Matt for short, or Matty if she wanted to annoy him.

Yo son, you almost here? I have shit to discuss about your boy.

Remy…he wanted to talk about things he had heard again. She wasn’t interested in rumors.

Keep the gossip to yourself, Matt. I don’t have time for it.

Just as quickly as she put her phone down, she received a reply.

Not a damn rumor. I saw him last night.

Raven just stared at her phone. She didn’t dare text back. She couldn’t. She was afraid of what he might have seen. She decided she would just not respond.

Don’t fucking ignore me, Raven. We will talk after class this morning. He’s an asshole and you can do so much better.

Shit! She wasn’t on board with this. She didn’t want to talk. She wanted to remain blissfully ignorant. Out of sight, out of mind.

“Damnit Remy, why haven’t you texted me back?”

She would have to find him at school today and figure out what was going on. Preferably before Matt cornered her for a little chat. He was a relentless son of a bitch, and he didn’t like Remy at all. He made sure to tell her every chance he got, repeatedly. Raven wondered why she stayed friends with him at this point. He just wouldn’t let it go. Once the bus hissed to a stop, she hurried down the steps and mentally prepared herself for what she knew was going to be a shit day. Fuck Mondays!

“A friendship forged out of necessity

A bond broken and turned into hatred

One once looked at as a brother

The other loved to much and too soon”

James Johnston and Kain O’Grady once had a bond like no other ever seen before. Not only were they brothers of the heart, they were also lovers.

Centuries they spent at each other’s side. Through good times and through bad, but never did their relationship suffer until one pregnancy and one prophecy changes their lives forever.

Betrayal is seen at every corner and madness close behind.

Excerpt #1

James didn’t know what to say to comfort Kain so he just said nothing. He let his body talk for him. He turned his body around so he was facing Kain and looked into his honey-colored eyes and felt something he couldn’t explain. His eyes traveled down Kain’s face and settled on his lips. He remembered that kiss just before he died. He wanted to feel Kain’s lips on his again. He moved his hands to run up Kain’s chest.

“What are you doing?” came Kain’s breathy inquire.

“Shh,” was all James said in reply.

He brought his lips to Kain’s again and this time pressed more firmly. He hadn’t a clue what he was doing but whatever it was he needed more. He felt not only himself but Kain’s hardness. He moved himself to straddle Kain’s thighs and let out a groan when their penises came in contact with each other. He wrapped his arms around Kain’s neck and felt Kain’s arms around his waist, pulling him closer. Locking them together more firmly. He started to rock his hips slowly and heard Kain’s breath catch in his throat, followed by a small growl.

Their kisses were becoming sloppier and more hurried. James started to rock his hips a little faster. He didn’t know what either of them needed but he just knew he needed to go faster. Kain’s lips left his to suck on his neck. He could feel the scrap of his fangs and it only served to make him moan louder. Water was sloshing all about as their thrusts grew quicker and their breathing harsher. He could fill tingling all over his body and his claws begin to curl out from his fingers. Whatev

er they were doing felt wonderful and he never wanted it to stop. Kain kept nibbling and sucking on his neck and had even removed one of his arms to fist his hand in James’s hair. Suddenly Kain pulled James’s head back and struck. His fangs embedded deeply into his neck and before James knew what was happening a shout was escaping his throat as thick ropes of fluid left his body through his penis. Kain experienced the same sensation.

Kain took his fangs out of James’s neck and bared his own flesh. Seconds later he felt pleasure unlike anything else when James pulled blood from his neck. Whatever they had just done would have to be repeated as many times as they could. Next time he would make sure to stretch it out, though. He vaguely remembered James licking on his neck before sleep took him from not only the shock of James’s second death but the sensations his body had just experienced. He was fairly certain that James had fallen asleep as well. The only thought he had was that it was going to be freezing in the bath when they awoke.

Excerpt #2

James looked up from the dirt piles he was playing with at the sound of someone shuffling up the valley. The midday sun was hot, blinding him with its light. Through the sunbeams, a small boy ambled to where James knelt in the dirt. He had never seen this boy before and James was wary. Mystics were the top of the food chain, and his father would kill him if he let someone get the better of him. It didn’t matter that he was only six or that the boy appeared smaller than him. It wouldn’t do to be taken by surprise by this stranger. He stood, baring his tiny fangs.

“Who are you? Why have you come here?” James growled, voice tinny but fierce. Even at six, he was a trained killer.

“My name is Kain. Our parents were talking down towards camp. They said you were here playing. I asked if I could come join you, so here I am.” Kain’s tiny hands curled to his side and his head cocked.

“Are you new here?” James asked, fangs still visible. He wasn’t ready to retract them just yet.

“Yes, we walked about two weeks time to get to this part of the hillside,” Kain said. “Would it be alright if I played with you?”

James eyed the strange boy suspiciously.

“Are you a Mystic, too?”

Kain smiled, his top lip pulling back to reveal his own set of small, pearly fangs.

“You don’t have a sister?” James asked.

“No. It’s just me.”

“Me too! Want to be bestest friends?” James withdrew his fangs at this unprecedented prospect.

“Yes!” Kain shouted while bouncing up and down, hands waving wildly.

“Good. We will be friends forever and ever.” James said with confidence.

To secure their blood bond forever, the two boys each nicked the tips of their forefingers with their fangs until blood bubbled at the slight wounds. When their bloody fingertips touched, an instant, unbreakable bond was sealed. They would be best friends forever, even as long as they both still lived and even passing into death. A bond between two Mystics could very well last forever. If nothing came between them, then James and Kain could be blood bound for an eternity.

Sneak Peak – Dark Indiscretions: A Prequel Chapters Prologue-2 by Shakuita Johnson

Copywrite 2014 by Shakuita Johnson

Just finished the first draft of A Prequel last night and thought I’d post a little sneak peak…Please if you haven’t read Dark Indiscretions and Dark Indiscretions: Monster Unleashed read with caution. I would hate to spoil it for anyone. Here are chapters Prologue-2…it’s unedited and subjected to change. Just throwing that out there 🙂 So leave me a comment letting me know what you think…

20 A.D.

Six-year-old James Johnson was lonely. His parents had decided that they weren’t going to have any more kids after him, so he was the only child. It wasn’t supposed to be that way. James and his family were Mystics – vampyra shape shifting witches. They were the monsters other monsters were afraid of. They killed without remorse or preamble. They were fanatics about maintaining a “pure” bloodline. Mystics would marry a brother or sister from the family and reproduce other Mystics. It was a long-standing tradition. His parents deciding to only have one child went against their culture and everything they believed in.

James wasn’t sure what he was supposed to do now. After his birth his parents should have tired for a girl so he would have someone to grow up with and marry. They were supposed to be so closely bonded that they would be like an extension of each other. Only it wasn’t going to happen. He was going to be alone for a very long time. He couldn’t marry anyone else because all his other family members were already spoken for. At six this was a hard reality to face. While his cousins were running around hand in hand with their chosen he only had himself to keep him company. Something his six-year-old mind didn’t understand or was capable of comprehending. All he knew was he should be paired up just like his cousins.

James looked up from his dirt piles he was playing with at the sound of someone shuffling up the valley. It was midday and the sun was hot and shining. He saw a small boy making his way to where James knelt in the dirt. He looked smaller than James. He had never seen this boy before and because of that James was wary. His species was the top of the food chain. His father would kill him if he let someone get the better of him. It didn’t matter that he was only six. It wouldn’t do to be taken by surprise by this stranger. He stood and bared his tiny fangs.

“Who are you? Why have you come here?” James demanded in a tiny but fierce voice. Even at only six he was a trained killer.

“My name is Kain. My parents were talking with your parents down towards camp and they said you were here playing. I asked if I could come join you and here I am,” Kain explained with his tiny hands curled to his side and his head cocked.

“Are you new here?” James asked but didn’t retract his fangs yet.

“Yes, we walked about two weeks time to get to this part of the hillside,” Kain said. “Would it be alright if I played with you?”

“You don’t have a sister?” James asked.

“No. It’s just me,” Kain said.

“Me too! Want to be bestest friends?” James asked excitedly finally putting away his fangs at this new prospects before him.

“Yes!” Kain shouted just as excited.

“Good. We will be friends forever and ever.” James said with confidence.

The each nicked their finger with a fang until blood swelled up to the top. They touched their fingertips to each other’s and in an instant a bond was made. Best friends forever and ever as long as they both still lived.

Chapter 1

30 AD

Today was James’s birthday. He was going to be sixteen. Kain was coming over and they were going to go hunting by themselves for the first time. Her couldn’t wait! Kain’s birthday was two days before but he waited for James so they could celebrate together.

They had remained best friends for ten years now. He was the brother James would never have. They were as thick as thieves. They did everything together. If they could they would spend every waking moment together.

James made sure his tunic was secured and raced to the door.

“For goodness sakes James he will knock once he’s here. You don’t have to seem like an eager puppy every time Kain’s around,” Marcella Johnston said for the hundredth time.

She was beautiful. His mother. She had long raven hair with tiny ringlet curls and blue eyes. She had the same hair and eyes that James saw every time he saw his reflection. She was fairly tall for a woman. Five feet, seven inches tall with bronzed skin. His mother loved walking outside in her gardens. It was weird for a Mystic but whatever.

“Please Mother. No teasing. I don’t have anyone else to play with since you and father refuse to have anymore children,” James sulked.

“Not this again. One is all I wanted. I don’t have time to be running around a bunch of little monsters. You and Kain are quite enough. He’s here half the time. Some days I swear it’s like I have two children.”

“You should have had two children at least. One boy and one girl, then I wouldn’t be the laughing stock of the entire family. It’s unheard of! Whom am I supposed to marry now?”

His mother made a face at him. Gah! She was such a child sometimes. For once he wished she would take his complaints seriously.

“Don’t be such a baby Jamie.”

“I hate it when you call me that!”

Just as his mother went to respond with probably something else to make him angry there was a knock at the door.

“I’ll get it. It should be Kain,” James said.

When James opened the door he was a bit surprised to see not only Kain but also his parents. What the hell where they doing here?

“It’s a bout time! We have to come up with a hunting plan. It will be dark soon,” James stated.

“Well about that…seems our fathers think they should come with us,” Kain said with a sad smile.

“What? No! We are sixteen and more than capable of hunting on our own. Every other Mystic does,” James raged.

“You are still so young. Your father and I will just trail behind the both of you. You will hardly know we are there,” Daniel O’Grady said calmly.

He was a big man of about six feet, seven inches. He had darker brown hair and brown eyes on fair skin. He was also very muscular for a Mystic because they tended to be leaner. He looked like he could bowl over a whole field of people. Even still, James wasn’t afraid of him.

“No! Where is my father? Father, come out here right now,” James demanded.

He knew he was acting like the child they still believed they were but he didn’t care. It was his damned birthday! His father walked in like he owned the place. Well technically he did but James was well into his tantrum and wasn’t about to stop now.

Besides his father didn’t scare him either. Well not much anyway. Michael Johnston’s very presence in a room commanded respect. Sometimes James didn’t like to give it to him. This was one of those times. Strangely his father loved when James challenged him. Claimed it kept him on his toes. They had a very strange relationship.

His father was just as attractive as his mother. His father’s skin was much paler in comparison to hers and his eyes where a vibrant green. He kept his fire red hair in one long braid down his back. He was six feet, five inches of lean muscle but one should never let that lead them to believe he couldn’t do a great deal of damage to anyone bigger than him. His father played to win. Always.

“You bellowed,” Michael said with mirth.

“What do you think you’re doing? You can’t come tagging along on my first solo hunt. What will people think?” James was screeching at this point.

“Shit James with all that screaming you are doing people will probably think you’re a girl,” Michael mocked.

“You’re not fucking going!” James yelled. “We are sixteen and it is our right.”

Michael just gave his only child a long look. He was his baby boy regardless of what anyone else thought. His son was a good egg. Yes he was a killer but he had honor. He had values. He wasn’t ready to send him out on his own. Even if Kain would be accompanying him on his first solo hunt. Daniel felt the same way so they had came up with this unheard of turn of events. Michael knew it was time to take a gamble.

Mystics where know as cold and uncaring but it wasn’t entirely true. He loved his family and he would be damned if his only son was hurt on his first hunt. He was fucking going with him or he wasn’t going at all.

“Either Daniel and I are going with you boys or you want be going at all,” Michael said looking his son right in the eyes.

“This is total fucking bullshit!” James screamed as he smashed anything he could find that was breakable.

Kain just shook his head. He wanted to go hunting. He didn’t care if both their damn parents watched from the background. He was hungry. He hoped James got over his tantrum before the sunset and they needed to be out the door. All these years later and James still insisted on acting like a toddler whenever he didn’t get his way. Kain was losing patience with his best friend really fast.

Chapter 2

“Well now you’ve done it Michael. He’s going to break every piece of pottery he can find in his outrage,” Marcella said. “This is entirely your fault you know. You let him get away with bloody murder.”

Marcella looked at her husband in amusement. James was a handful and spoiled. She didn’t mind in the slightest. She was glad they had only one child. She loved being able to have one on one time with her son whenever she wanted. She didn’t have to compete for his attention. She hated being second best, and that would include the daughter she was supposed to have for James to marry. She was selfish and she didn’t care. That may be were James got it from.

“He will get tired soon enough,” Michael replied. “So Kain are you ready to go on your first hunt?”

“I’ve been ready for the last two days. If I hadn’t told James I would wait for him I’ve had already been on a hunt,” Kain said.

James was still smashing vases in the background but stopped at the sound of Kain’s voice.

“You would have left me?” James asked with a pout.

“Will you cut it out James. I want to go on a hunt. Who cares if they follow behind us?” Kain pleaded.

Kain was used to James’s outbursts by now but sometimes he just wanted to shake his best friend. They had a damn hunt to go on and James was throwing one of his famous tantrums. Kain was an only child too but he never acted this way. His father would kill him. After his mother beat him first to soften him up!

“I care. This hunt is supposed to signify our independence. How can it do that if our daddies are tagging along?” James whined and stomped his foot for good measure.

“Oh come off it James. We are going. You’ll hardly know we are there,” Michael said firmly.

James knew it was a losing battle. His father was getting impatient with him. He would only let him act out so much before he would have to punish him. James hated being punished.

“Fine but not so close,” James compromised.

“You won’t even know we’re there,” Michael agreed.

“Excellent. Abaigeal dear we will be back before you know it,” Daniel said to his wife.

She was as pale as James’s father and had hair just as red with emerald green eyes. She was a short and tiny thing though. James wasn’t sure how she carried Kain’s big ass in her small body.

“Of course dear. Marcella and I will just have ourselves a bit of girl talk while we clean all these vases James smashed,” Abaigeal replied.

James felt a little guilty about his outburst but not enough to offer to clean it up himself. He was spoiled he admitted it. Perks of being the only child. Sometimes it didn’t suck so badly. This was one of those times.

“Come on boys let’s go scout out an area. Has to be some humans out roaming around, begging to be eaten,” Michael announced. “Tell your mothers goodbye so we can go. The sun is setting.”

James and Kain gave their mothers a kiss on the cheek and quickly made their way to the door. They were pumped and ready to feed. They were that much closer to being men in the eyes of their fathers. They didn’t want to mess it up.

James could barely contain his excitement. He couldn’t wait to sink his teeth into some poor unsuspecting human. Usually his father or mother would take someone down then he would drink after them. There was no struggle or fight by the time he feed. They were already close to death and he just finished the job. He wanted a challenge.

He was determined to show his father he didn’t need a babysitter. Kain was the only backup he needed. The only backup he ever wanted. The sun had set completely and James walked side by side with Kain and they scanned the horizon and listened closely to their surroundings. True to their words, their fathers weren’t seen or heard but James knew they were watching and waiting. Ready to jump in if need be.

James spotted the people first and nudged Kain to look as well. Kain gave him a brilliant full on smile and shook his head in agreement. They would have to be silent, deadly, and fast. There were twelve kids who looked to be around the same ages as Kain and James. This would be easy. Six and six, surely they could each handle a few tiny humans.

They continued their slow approach to the twelve unsuspecting humans but blended more with the shadows. No need to spook them before they were right upon them and able to stop them from getting away or screaming. The shock of what was about to happen would keep them occupied long enough for them to drain everyone dry before anyone could think to make a single move or run away.

James heart raced in excitement, anticipation, and a small dose of fear. This was it. The moment he had been waiting for, for sixteen years. Once James felt he and Kain were close enough he gave the signal they had discussed days ago.

They pounced at the same time and that’s when they realized they had made a mistake, a very big one at that. These weren’t just your average slow, ill-prepared humans. These were something more and they were prepared and ready.

Cover Reveal – Dark Indiscretions: Monster Unleashed by Shakuita Johnson

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00075]

What would you do if the one fate chose for you vanished into thin air? What would you give up? Who would you become to stay with that person?

Krista Bell finally knows what it’s like to be free. The torture she endured at the hands of her psychotic father have unleashed the monster her mother tried so hard to help her suppress. The only thing she wants to do is be the shadow in the night that everyone is afraid of.

Taser is barely holding it together. He lost Kris once to her father and now he’s losing her to the monster she is becoming. He’s also barely containing his own monster since Krista decided she didn’t need her mates anymore. Nathan is still near but he may not be enough.

Nathan is on the verge of losing not one but both of his mates. One vanished without a trace. The other is avoiding him. He has run out of patience with them both.

But when the monster that Krista has become comes to them with a proposal will they take her up on it and possibly lose themselves or will they try to talk her down and get the beast to put back on her chain?

Krista made her way down the hall and into the office she knew her mates would be. They were not going to like what she had to say but right now it was about her. She was tired of putting others before herself. Tired of pretending to be someone that she wasn’t. She paused for a moment in the doorway to look at her mates one last time. They were rung tight from her self-imposed seclusion and she knew this was only going to be the beginning of their heartache.

She took a moment to really look at her mates. They were total contrasts to each other. Where Taser was standing at only five-foot-five-inches and weighing one hundred and seventy five pounds. He had dirty blonde hair that stuck out all over the place and hazel eyes. On the other hand, Nathan stood at just less than seven feet and weighted over three hundred pounds of pure muscle. He had black hair with the most mesmerizing green eyes flecked with gold, belaying his paranormal status. They were both handsome. Any girl would be lucky to have just one of them as a mate.

Yet her she was ready to give them both up. It couldn’t be helped so no use in delaying the inevitable. Without preamble Krista spoke the words all men dread.

“We need to talk. Now.”

“Now you’re ready to talk,” Nathan said with an arched eyebrow.

“It’s about damn time,” was Taser’s reply.

Krista saw where this conversation was going to go before it started. Both her mates were upset and yet she still couldn’t bring herself to care, much. She knew what she had to do and she didn’t plan on changing her mind.

“Are you both going to be assholes or listen to what I have to say?” Krista asked.

“Fine. Speak,” Taser barked.

Speak! What was she a damn dog? Krista was fuming and she could feel the air around her zinging with her anger.

“Careful how you speak to me,” she threatened in a low voice. “I am not some common animal that you can issue commands and receive obedience in return. You will do well to remember who and what I am.”

“Let’s all calm down and take a seat. We have just been worried. Taser didn’t mean anything by it. Let’s not fight but instead have a civilized conversation,” Nathan said. He didn’t need anyone losing their cool right now. Emotions were already running high as it was.

“Before the rudeness was introduced, what I was trying to say is I will be leaving here today and never returning. I’ve given this a lot of thought and there is just no way I can continue this existence how I was. I am no longer that person. I have changed. There is no point in a discussion because nothing you say will change my mind. The both of you will also not be joining me,” Krista stated.

Was she serious with this shit? She walks in here like she owns the world and decrees that she is leaving not only the pack lands but also her mates behind. Did she think we were supposed to be okay with it? Nathan was utterly speechless. Never in all his years would he have expected this shit when he found his Nyhiya. He could feel the rage building and getting ready to burst free.

“Come again?” Taser asked. “I think I may have misheard what you just said. I could have sworn it sounded like you were abandoning your mates.”

“No need to be dramatic. It’s not like you only have one mate. Nathan will keep you company but unfortunately I have things to do. Mates would only hold me back from my destiny. I don’t need any weaknesses my enemies could exploit. Now if you both will excuse me, I have preparations to make.”

With those parting words, Krista got up and walked out of the office. She didn’t have time to waste. She had to gather the few things she had here and leave to begin her hunt. She wasn’t sure where she was starting but she was sure she was leaving here tonight and by any means necessary.
