Book Review – Slither by Valarie Savage Kinney
Book Review

Title: Slither
Author: Valarie Savage Kinney
Release Date: July 2, 2015
Genre: Horror/Paranormal
We’re often told tales of the underworlds to feed the darkest corners of our nightmares. We tuck them away with the sunlight and laugh away the fear our minds created. But the daylight offers no relief for Zari. She’s hidden her waking nightmare as nothing more than a damaged past. The venom of her secrets consumes her, as well as those she cares for most. Emmett, the love of her life and the only one with a past dark enough to respect her space, becomes a pawn in the war against the demonic force which is her bloodright. Can Zari overpower those out to get her to feed on the innocent? Can she save Emmett from the evil of Slither?
I’ll start with what I did like about this story…I liked the fact that the paranormal aspect was something totally different from werewolves or vampires although they are my favorite to read about. The mythology that was presented about the origins of the snake creature were interesting but I would have liked more…especially since this was a standalone novel. The opening was interesting and drew my attention but as the story continued my attention wasn’t held firmly with the NEED to consume every word like it was law.
I will say the book was very well edited and I didn’t see one error. And although described as horror/paranormal I felt not an ounce of fear and I’m a horror fan. Nothing gets me going like a good scare. Maybe horror on paper doesn’t translate as well as horror on film.
I did get confused a bit…I thought their were two sisters when their was only one, a grandmother, and parents.
Zari and Emmett’s abuse seems to tie them together but you can also see the love they have.
What I didn’t enjoy was the every other woman introduced seemed to be in love or instant lust with Emmett and especially since one of those women were supposed to be Zari’s best friend. It added nothing to the story in my opinion.
Some introduction of characters seemed to have no real purpose…I say that only because once the event was over we didn’t hear anything else about them. I would have thought we would since she played a part in a certain scene, so I figured the MC would have at least tried to stay in touch with her. But the main problem was that I really didn’t care about the characters. Whether they lived or died.
The concept of this book was what drew me to want to read it however the execution from the idea to the end result didn’t hold my interest nearly as much as I would have liked. It’s a good story and if you find yourself wanting to read something different I say go for it. To give a bit of perspective it’s a good book to pick up for an in between book. I enjoyed it for what it was but it’s not a reread for me.
Would I read another book from this author? Yes, if I came across one that peeked my interest.
Would I pre order or auto buy? Not at the moment.
Great job Ms. Kinney I will casually be on the look out of what you may come up with next in the paranormal genre.
Like this blog post and leave a comment and I will randomly pick one person to send an ecopy of Slither to. I will pick the winner September 5th, 2015 @ noon.

Now for my reviews…
Book. 0.5 – Kate’s first meeting with Saiman introduces us to the Kate Daniels we all know and have grown to love…before Curran and the keep or Julie…Kate was just Kate…trying to put food on the table and stay under the radar from those who would do her harm..Full of sass and solving problems as only Kate Daniels can…with her fists. Great intro to an amazing world. *****
Magic Bites – Book 1: I remember picking this book up like it was yesterday but really it was June 6, 2010. I had been in Honduras a few weeks for work and I wasn’t busy at all. So I decided to order a few books…this is when I first discovered kindle books and downloaded quite a few…Magic Burns was one of those game changing books…the blurb caught my interest and I one-clicked and I’m so glad I did. To say I devoured this story would be an understatement. I couldn’t put it down. I was so enraptured in this world that I wouldn’t here people calling my name and I would get made anytime I was interrupted. I immediately one-clicked any other book out in the series and haven’t stopped pre ordering since. Amazing read for fans of Urban Fantasy and all things paranormal such as vampires, shapeshifters, and even a few gods and other myths thrown in. If you haven’t started this series the only question I have for you is WHY? *****
Magic Burns – Book 2: After finishing Magic Bites I immediately one-clicked Magic Burns the same day. Kate and Curran have a complicated relationship and she is not acting as successor for her mentors old position. She is the liaison of the pack and helps them when she can…we also meet Julie who I love and who has a few tricks up her sleeve as well. Kate becomes bound to this little slip of a girl through chance and I think it’s a good addition to her life. Having Kate responsible for someone besides just herself helps to crack the wall she’s put between herself and the rest of the world. We see how a magical flares effects the city between shifts of magic and tech at unpredictable times. And I just love Derek and I’m so glad Kate has him to help watch her back because trouble seems to follow her everywhere she goes. *****
Magic Strikes – Book 3: Also purchased June 6, 2010 – Someone has pissed Kate off by messing with Derek…the kid/young man she’s grown to love and care about…with that Kate and several members of the pack and Andrea enter a deadly game…sometimes even played to the death. You start to see the relationship between Kate and Curran start to change and grow little by little and Julie has also firmly placed herself in Kate’s life. We are also introduced to Hugh who is Kate’s adopted father’s successor as well as the man who works as the captain of her real father’s army…Kate is scared of what this means, especially when she preforms an act that she knows will not escape Hugh’s notice…is she ready to reveal who she really is to save her friends or will she say screw it and walk away! Great edition and turning point for the series. *****
Magic Bleeds – Book 4: Also purchased June 6, 2010 – in comes a member of Kate’s paternal family and she’s hellbent on destroying everything in her path…especially the shape shifters…Kate is forced to make a choice between her position or the shapeshifters she’s grown to know and love when they need her the most. Who will she choose and will she be able to live with her choice? Who is this mystery woman that brings pain and destruction in her wake? Who will come out on top? Read and find out peeps…you will not be disappointment. Kate is forced to push herself to her limit to save herself and her friends. *****
Magic Slays – Book 5: Kate and Curran are officially a thing and she now has to learn to be the mate of the Beast Lord and all it entails…after quitting the Order the pack is helping her start her own business but it’s not all fun and games…Andrea is back and is helping Kate in between mopping around. Kate has a new intern following her around but he’s nothing like Derek…he has a long way to go but he has the potential to be one of the greats one day after getting over being spoiled. When a real, honest to goodness case comes in will Kate bite off more than she can chew…in true Kate Daniels fashion chaos and madness ensue. *****
Gunmetal Magic – Book 5.5: Kate and Curran take a small backseat to Andrea and Raphael, the alpha of Clan Bouda and Andrea’s ex, to investigate the murders of several shapeshifters who worked for Raphael…after the events of Magic Bleeds tensions are still high between the used to be mates after a decision by Andrea went against what Raphael thought she should have done…now they have to work together in spit of their still obvious feelings and attraction for each other…who’s killing shifters and will Andrea and Raphael get back together? *****
Magic Rises – Book 6: This has to be one of my favorites out of the entire series…I love every book but events in this book start to set up the moment we have all been waiting for up until now…it starts with the pack children having trouble controlling their shifts. When this happens they become Loup and have to be put down for fear of hurting others…Kate and Curran have decided they must stop this so they travel overseas to pick up a cure from other supernaturals that know how to make it. They have promised them a good amount of the drug in exchange for help on a personal matter. Curran and Kate know it’s not going to be something easy but what can they do…children are dying and the best friends of their ward Julie at that…There are some heartbreaking losses and a few betrayals and WTF moments as well…I was on the edge of my seat the entire story from beginning to end. Kate also meets up with Hugh again but who will come out the victor? *****
Magic Breaks – Book 7: The moment we’ve all been waiting for has now arrived!!!! So much going on and I my eyes couldn’t move fast enough to read the words on the paper…so many big changes that you are going to have to read for yourself…let’s just say Kate has a little family reunion and in the process does something to Atlanta that she didn’t know she could do…I for one cannot wait until Magic Shifts is out…although we closed an arc and chapters in Magic Breaks we open new ones that are just starting to introduce Kate and Curran without all the pressure that was once weighing them down. Let’s just say I’ve read the teasers and I can’t wait to have book 8 in my greedy little hands! *****
This is a must read series and the novellas that go with it are grab little snacks inbetween big meals. I hope it never ends and the day it does I’ll cry like a newborn baby. I LOVE this series ❤
Book Review – Recurve by Shannon Mayer

“My name is Larkspur, and I am an Elemental.”
My people use the power of the earth to sustain life and defy our enemies. I should be at my father’s side as a royal princess. But as a half-breed, bastard child, that isn’t going to happen.
I’ve been accused of attacking the queen, my wicked stepmother, and my life is suddenly on the line. I have only two options left to me: banishment, or training to become one of the King’s Elite Guards, an Ender.
Option one will kill me.
Option two is meant to break me, but is the only way to survive.
Did I mention I have no power like the rest of the elementals, and my connection to the earth is worth next to nothing?
Could things get any worse? Of course they can. Welcome to being an Elemental.
4.5
I was provided this ARC copy by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Where to even start…we first meet Larkspur in Elementally Priceless in the Rylee Adamson Novel Series, when she first met a young Rylee on her first savage. I fell in love with her character right then and there when she risked all to help a young girl who wanted to prove she could do things on her own but still needed a bit of help.
So when I heard that Mrs. Mayer would be giving Lark her own series I was thrilled.
We start from the very beginning with Lark. We see her tragedies and triumphs and we feel her pain as if it were our own. Lark has been accused of something she hasn’t done and the only thing she can do is accept banishment or become a guardian to the king (her father). Even though technically Lark is a princess she isn’t treated like one by many and she is seen as useless. But there is so much more to Lark than anyone knows including herself. There are a few secrets and lies and sometimes you just want to shake a character or two.
I was left wanting the next part right after I finished the last page of Recurve and I believe this series will be as successful as the Rylee series.
The only issue I had with the story was there was more tell than show. Meaning Lark would overcome something and say “It couldn’t possibly get worse” and instead of ending it right there, Lark would say “I was wrong”. I would have rather saw she was wrong then to be told beforehand that she was going to be wrong (if that makes sense).
All in all this was a wonderful start to a brand new series
Blog Tour + Review – Tempting BAD by M. Robinson
Brooke
I’ve come from a privileged life and an even more privileged upbringing. My parents taught me right from wrong and everything in between… except I wanted the gray area. I wanted to live life on the edge with the possibility of falling over. I didn’t care about the consequences because I had no heart…
I left that on the floor of my parents’ bedroom door, shattered.
And never went back to pick up the pieces.
Devon
Family first.
I learned the meaning of the word hate.
I learned that life is a battlefield and I stood frontline.
I learned that praying doesn’t work and God doesn’t listen.
And I learned how to be a man…
All at the receiving end of my father’s fists, my mother’s tears, and my sisters screams.
You can’t run away from your past…
It will always find you, especially when you’re asleep.
Warning: Book contains adult situations.
Sex/language. Mature readers only.
4.5 stars
ARC received for an honest review
I’m not even sure where to begin with this book…Tempting BAD is a spin-off from M. Robinson The VIP Trilogy I would recommend reading it before going into Tempting BAD as it may spoil a few things at least from the last book MVP.
We jump into Brooke and Devon’s lives before they meet each other and each had their own demons before coming together. Brooke is a spoiled rich kid who can’t seem to find herself after witnessing something that shattered her world on her sixteenth birthday. Ever since then she’s been trying to find her way in a sense and she’s never fully dealt with her emotions. She’s just put them in a box left to simmer until the pot explodes.
Devon’s life was the opposite. He grew up to fast and never really got to be a kid. His childhood hunts him for years and meeting Brooke helps to soothe his broken soul in a way no one ever could. They change each other…two halves of the same whole.
As soon as they met the only thing I could think of was Taylor Swift’s song “I Knew You Where Trouble”. That’s the first thing I thought of when Devon first sees Brooke. The girl is trouble…they are hot and then cold.
You want to choke them (mostly Brooke) and other times you’re just left there speechless wondering WTF you just read. Mrs. Robinson tells a story like no other and I’ve read everything she’s written to date and I will continue to read whatever she comes up with next…(waiting for Mika *cough*). We’ve just seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her writing and I for one can’t wait to see what twists and turns she comes up with next. Bravo and very well done!
I was there, but I wasn’t.
I danced around in a sea of emptiness and longing, it moved around me easily, carelessly, harshly.
It was all and it was nothing.
It made me full and it made me empty.
It pleased me and it dismayed me.
I didn’t care. I was there to do a job. To be a VIP. I played my part beautifully, just as I always did. Letting myself get taken away on empty promises of nothing, but somehow seemed like everything.

Henry is digging into Sydney’s parents to help her find the truth but without out knowledge. Sydney herself is also remembering startling truths about her past but she has no one to really talk to about it. We see the characters both trying to pick themselves up and be better versions of themselves.
We are left wondering if the new found closeness Henry and Sydney started to have for each other again will last. Ms. Lauren leaves you on the edge of your seat wanting to know the conclusion of their love story. The perfect balance of mystery and romance. I eagerly awake the next installment.

Although Soft Shatter has all the elements I love in the books I read, it never fully grasped my attention. Instead of sprinting through it, it was more of a leisurely stroll. In other words I liked. Our female MC is on a mission and she won’t let anyone in her way to achieve said mission. But there are secrets, that not even she knows about but those around her do. She’s the center of attention for three wolves who all want her for themselves. Ms. Miller takes the reader on a journey of twists and turns. With that being said I still would read more works by this author. Personally I saw nothing wrong with the voice, pace, or dynamics of Soft Shatter, it just didn’t come out the gate popping with me. While I enjoyed this read it just never had me in a rush to just finish it right this minute. Instead it was a book that would be read while waiting for a much more anticipated favorite series or author. That being said BRAVO to Ms. Miller for doing what she loves and bringing her unique voice to the world of literature. Lovers of paranormal would do well to add this to their collection.
Excerpt #1
My hands over Shavone’s, I tighten my hoodie around her. She needs to keep it on — cover that beautiful, tempting ass of hers. I indicate the dart board with a nod. “Are you an ace at that, too?” She shakes her head. “No. I’ve never played darts before.” “Hallelujah.” I throw my head back. “Maybe I can win a portion of my pride back.” I run my hands up her waist and around to her back. “Will you let me teach you?” Yes, kitten, that was an innuendo. I want to teach you a lot of things. The increase in feminine pheromone and blushing smile means she got my drift. Fuck. My dick twitches. I don’t know how much more of her I can take. “Okay,” she’s says, eyes on my mouth. I lick my lips. You want some of this? Dilated eyes say yes just before they glance away. “Sir?” She calls across the bar and once she has the old man’s attention, motions that the pool table is all his. He waves his thanks. Touching her back, I usher her to the dartboard. “I love this song.” She rocks her shoulders. There’s music? I pause to listen. Sade softly sings something about giving the kiss of life. “You like this old shit?” I tease her, pulling the darts from the board. “Hey.” She giggles. “Yes. I like soul — old and new.” She throws out that bottom lip, again. “Don’t make fun of me.” “Never, kitten. You have excellent taste in music.” The broad grin that spreads across her sweet face wraps another string around my heart. And her swaying hips? Those put another quart of blood in my dick. She is something. Beautiful and sweet and sensual. I wonder how she’ll react when she finds out I’m lying to her just as Nash is. And she’ll find out. No doubt. She’s digging in the right place. She’ll be angry. I have no doubt about that either. That we’re doing this to keep her out of the clutches of the hunters won’t make a bit of difference. How strange to feel remorse before the fact. The only chance I’ll have is to get under her skin and fast. “Why the sad look?” She asks me. I affect an exaggerated shocked expression. “You gotta ask, lady who handed me my ass in pool?” “Sorry.” She exaggerates a giggle into her hand. She isn’t sorry at all. “Well, now you can trounce me.” Fuck. Was that a euphemism, kitten? “At darts,” she quickly adds. “I wouldn’t be very gallant, using your word, if I did that.” “No, you wouldn’t.” She gives me her coquettish smile. “You think batting those lashes at me will save you?” I laugh. “A girl can hope.” “You showed no mercy. I show no mercy.” I grin. “That’s the way the game works.” I move behind her, and, with a hand at her hip, begin to murmur the rules into her ear. Jesus. Her scent. I inhale a lung full of it. “This” — I toe a length of tape on the floor — “is the throw line. You cannot step over it when you throw.” “What about my arm?” “Good question.” I playfully squeeze her bicep, again. “Yes, your buffed arm can cross it.” I feel her smile. “I prefer the word ‘toned’.” “Kitten, you are so toned.” I nuzzle her hair. “Now, stop distracting me.” She giggles and I grin. This is fun. She’s fun. The rest of the rules, what there are of them, are fairly simple. I run through them quickly. “Let’s do a few practice throws.” I motion her aside and, when she’s safely out of the way, throw my darts. One lands dead center of the bull’s-eye and the other two in the interior ring, quarter inch from the bull’s-eye. She laughs. “This is going to be bad.” “Aw, c’mon. Positive thinking.” I move out of the way and bow for her to take my place at the line. Lifting her chin, she shakes her hair out of the way and narrows her eyes at the board in concentration. Hot and sexy, smart and sharp. No man can resist that. Sorry, Nash. I glance over at him. His eyes pierce me with an anger he normally saves for enemies and rival packs. Cherie grins at me. Shavone’s first throw lands on the board, but in the number ring. No score. The second lands in the fat single score ring and the third misses the board completely. The music clicks over to a sexy strong drumbeat that Shavone seems to like, too. I walk to the board to extract our darts. Ah, it’s John Mayer. I almost laugh out loud at the lyrics. I’m not the man I used to be either, John. Shavone smiles at me as I walk back to her. Rocking her hips, she sings along to the music. “Not bad.” I hand her her darts. “You’ve got pretty good form for a newbie. Can I show you a better way?” She nods enthusiastically. “Yes, please.” I lay my darts on a nearby table. “Let’s work on your stance, first.” Stop writhing that body, kitten. “Okay.” She stands still. Taking my sweet ass time and with a caressing touch, I position her body — feet there, hips like this, shoulders like that, hands like this. I’m disappointed when I’m done arranging her. She looks up at me through her lashes, a flirty smile on her lips. I stifle a growl. Moving back behind her, I drag my hand down her arm to her hand. “Holding the dart is an art,” I whisper in her ear — trying hard not to imagine her soft hand gripping my dick. “Two fingers forward on the stem, like this.” I manipulate her slender fingers. “And your thumb here near the back of the dart.” Understanding, she nods. Her brow furrowed, she concentrates so hard. “You want to extend your arm, pointing the tip of the dart where you’d like it to stick.” Placing my cheek directly on her temple, my hand over hers, I raise the dart in front of her face. “Stare down the tip and bring the dart straight back in front of your face,” I say. “Don’t hold it here, by your ear. You can’t see where it’s going if it’s beside your head.” I let go of her hand and hold her at the waist. “Do it now, but don’t throw it yet.” While she lines up the dart, I dip my nose into her hair and inhale deeply — not caring if she hears it. My voice is thick when I speak again. “We’ll do a couple of practice movements. Don’t let go of the dart, though.” “Okay,” she says softly. My left hand glides from her hip to ribs while my right hand wraps around hers and the dart. My wolf wants you so bad.

Excerpt #2
The sweet scent that I have been looking forward to is not what walks into the Dollhouse. Rage seizes my wolf, his internal roar louder than the music pounding through the lounge. Three young wolves sitting at the bar wisely get up and move away. “Leave, Enrique.” Antonio insists. Shavone’s luxurious essence steeped in French stench. My beast bays a forlorn cry, a true physical agony joining the fury. How is it possible? What happened to the spell? “Enrique,” my brother hisses. “Go.” It’s too late to escape. I feel, and smell, Shavone behind me. “Mr. Cruz.” Steeling my heart and keeping a tight hold on the angry beast, I spin the stool from facing the bar to facing the little witch. She correctly gauges my wrath and steps back. “You’re too early,” I say, careful to control the volume and tone of my voice. “Oh.” She frowns, confused, her eyes dart between mine. “I came in early to do makeup. I assumed I had to be ready to work at four, but I can wait in my car.” “That isn’t necessary,” I growl, attempting to squash the burning jealousy. “Hi, Sara.” Antonio, using her Dollhouse name, draws her attention away from me. “Welcome to your first night.” “Thank you,” she murmurs. Antonio babbles some encouraging words while she nods and converses with him. My wolf identifies the male odor on her skin as belonging to LaFontaine. I’m going rip him to shreds. Never mind that he somehow got around a spell crafted by a powerful family ally. The detective took advantage of his official protector status while my wolf remains sidelined by the Alliance. It boils my wolven blood violently, muscles coil ready to shift. I use every ounce of control I have to contain my beast. You are mine, the wolf bursts into my eyes. Shavone chooses that moment to return her gaze to me. With a sharp inhale, her eyes widen. Antonio bugs his eyes out at me. “Have you ever tended bar?” He attempts to draw her attention back to him, but her gaze is locked on my angry wolf. I force him back, fight to get him into his cage and lock the door. Am I an alpha or an omega? The animal shreds my insides. “Hello?” Antonio waves his hand in front of the witch’s face. Shaking her head and turning it toward my brother, her pink lips part to speak. Before she can, the night shift manager joins us. “Is this our newest doll?” “Yes,” I say. “Tanya, Sara. She’s sharing a dressing room with Paulina who is also her trainer.” Shavone offers a hand to shake. The movement sends more French stink up my nostrils. Hands in fists, I stand. “I have personally selected several costumes for you, Sara. Choose one of them to wear tonight.” It is not a request. “And put on some damn perfume.” “This way, Sara.” Tanya turns. The little witch blinks at me a few times before following the manager across the lounge. No surprise that practically every pair of eyes follows. Shavone in jeans is more enticing than the naked woman writhing on stage. Just as she goes through the curtain, Shavone glances back at me, head tilted, brow creased. “You haven’t been a monk either.” Antonio slings a towel over his shoulder. “What the fuck does that mean?” Restraining the wolf burns my eyes. “Don’t expect a healthy young woman to be a nun.” He puts a glass under the tap and draws a beer. My beast snarls. “Go punch something and cool off.” I flip him off on my way to the door. Outside, the fence behind the Dollhouse takes my wrath. I recall the last time I found Shavone with another — the night I discovered her and Monbeau. The bastard heard my growl, smirked at me, taunted me as he fondled between her legs. “No, Enrique!” Only Agustin tackling me mid-charge prevented me from ripping Monbeau’s dick off at that moment. Uncle had followed me, apparently had done so since the first of my visits to check on my witch. The noise of our scuffle alerted French sentinels. Uncle, with his superior speed and strength, got us out of the canyon before they arrived. Once on our own territory, Uncle cuffed me to a granite wall. “Enrique, the Monbeau clan has an impressive record. They’ve not lost a creole witch in the past 100 years,” he had said. “Because of his heritage, I should let him fuck her?!” I pulled at the chains, altering between human and wolf so quickly my muscles ached as badly as my heart. “Yes. If her well-being is a priority to you. Is it?” The beast in me roared, torn by the damned-if-I-do, damned-if-I-don’t options. “With him by Shavone’s side day in and day out, you’re assured of her protection. The Alliance chose him for a reason.” “What if she mates with him?” I had gritted out between my teeth as my beast once again twisted my bones.
Days later uncle returned with a family friend, a witch. I lay on the ground, naked and limp from shifting uncontrollably. “Help him, Kennedy,” he begged her. She performed a spell relieving my wolf of his jealous agony. As it were, uncle’s faith in Monbeau was well placed. The punk saved her — rescuing her from the fire. I was on the other side of the state, called to Durango by my sister for an emergency that wasn’t as dire as she had made it sound. Had Monbeau not been in Colorado Springs with Shavone, she would have perished, the thought more unbearable than my own death. For that, the French wolf reluctantly earned my gratitude. Nevertheless, upon his death, I went to the Alliance, pleading for the assignment as Shavone’s protector. They refused, bringing LaFontaine back into her life even though the bastard had abandoned her once before. I threatened to challenge him, was on my way to do so. Kennedy convinced me otherwise. She used witchcraft to limit Shavone’s sex drive. “It’s better than a wolf war,” Kennedy had said. “And drawing attention to a Soft witch.” The fence in ruins, I call Kennedy now. “What happened to your spell?” “You’ll have to be more specific, Enrique.” “Shavone let LaFontaine fuck her.” “What?” Kennedy gasps. “I bound your touch as the terminus. Either she discovered the hex and removed it or” — When I interviewed her. “You didn’t tell me I couldn’t touch her.” Kennedy hisses. “In order to have touched her you needed to have been in contact with her. Which, of course, is completely against Alliance orders.” The fault is mine. I did this. I released her libido. Now there is only one remedy. I have to make her mine. “Fuck the Alliance.” I hang up on Kennedy.

About Dany Rae Miller
I’m Dany Rae Miller and I believe in the power of love. I believe that love ~ real, unconditional, soulful devotion ~ can change who you are as a person. It can change you from shy to open, wary to trusting, scared to brave, running in circles to holding on to your rock. Young and naive, believing I was in love, I married right out of high school. Three years later, I was a brokenhearted, single mom of a toddler. Fast forward two more years to another sweetheart turned asshole and my faith in love was lost. Done with boys, I built a life for my child and me by myself. It wasn’t easy, but I grew up and learned how to stand on my own two feet. I didn’t need a man, I reasoned, I’ve got my confidence. In my mid twenties, I wanted to up my earning power and decided to go to college, setting my sights on journalism school. It was then, when I wasn’t looking for him, that the love of my life walked into a college speech class and sat down next to me. The right person at the right time changes everything and mends even the most shattered trust. I am living proof. That’s what I try to put into my novels. When I’m at the computer writing, life is golden. It just doesn’t get any better than weaving sometimes euphoric and sometimes gut-wrenching tales of erotic romance. In former lives, I was an advertising rep, then, a property manager. After college, I became a TV producer, and an award-winning screenwriter. Now, I conjure sexy love stories from thin air. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. I do it from my home in spectacular Colorado (a location featured prominently in my stories) where I live with my wonderful husband and two affectionate kitties.

This book contains raw and graphic sex, obscene language, violence, torture, rape, assault, none of which is limited to persons over the age of consent. A beautiful, enchanting story of love, happiness—*Record needle scratches across vinyl*
I’m just fucking with you. Love, happiness, and fairy tales… Yeah, they don’t live here anymore. The only things residing amongst these thin and barren walls are Dominance, submission, and twisted fucking obsession. Stella gets knocked down over and over throughout her life… Though she is bloodied and battered she stands back up every single time, smirks and nods before asking, “That all you got?”.
Wesley has shoved his way through the rich life with both middle fingers up. He’s also shoved his way through half of the socialite population, but all that vanilla has left him a starved man. He knows he can’t keep his Dom fed with kinky little masochistic vanilla’s anymore. On his mission to find the perfect sub, Wesley stumbles across a broken, shattered angel, only to find when she comes up swinging, that this little angel knows how to fight.
He wants to be the one who breaks her…
But it’s not a question of who breaks her, the question is who destroys her.
“We will fight, angel. We’ll fight hard. But it’ll be worth every strike below the belt. Every hateful or spiteful word said, because when we love, when we fuck, when our passion reaches an intensity so goddamn powerful like it has every single time, it’ll extinguish all the bad. I want all your hate, Stell…Just as much as I want all your love. We are doing this. And there isn’t a damn thing you can do to stop it, angel. Is that understood?”—Wesley Jacobs

My Review
5 holy shit, what just happened to me stars
Honestly I still done know what to say. I still have no words to adequately described the pleasure/pain experienced while reading Wesley and Stella’s story. To say I was taken on a roller coaster ride would be an understatement. This was twisted, raw, no holds bar, unadulterated mind fuckery, camouflaged as maybe there just might be, but no, its not Fucking happening.
Hey I told you I didn’t have the right words. Don’t shake your head at me!
That Which Destroys Me was adequately named because it did just that, it completely and utterly destroyed me. Just when I though maybe Stella’s shit life couldn’t possibly not getting any shittier, boy was I completely surprised my the events that were masterfully unfolding before me. I thought I knew but I had no idea WTFery I was getting into.
There were hard truths explored in That Which Destroys Me, not only about the characters themselves but about aspects of my own life I was forced to confront while emerging myself in page by agonizing page.
But when it was good it was so good it hurt. Wesley and Stella burned up the pages with their desire, obsession, and unhealthy love. They were no Romeo and Juliet but that was okay. That made their love for one another realer because it was unfiltered. They fucked up and they overreacted and they walked away when they should have stayed and talked shit out but when emotions are high and pride even higher we make choices. Sometimes those choices liberate us and sometimes those choices destroy us.
This is not a love story but a story about love. All consuming, can’t even think straight, want to kill anyone that looks at you sideways love.
But the icing on the twisted fucked up cake was the monster watching and silently waiting in the shadows because he’s more twisted and fucked up then everyone else in the room and he manages to hide it until he’s so cocky and sure of himself he just can’t resist letting us know how truly sick and evil his intentions lie. The only thing I could think once his true face was revealed was what in the name of all that’s holy happened to this little boy as a child to make him go bat shit Fucking crazy!!!

Who is Kimber? Shit, sometimes even I don’t know, lmao. However if I had to type up an author bio (which, son of a bitch, I do) this is how it would read. BTW, caught a lot of shit for this author bio. Really don’t give a fuck though, because I was asked to type up a bio. And if I can only say one thing for certain about myself, it’s this: I’m real, I don’t back down from what I believe, I say what I mean, and I mean what I say. I don’t bite my tongue and I never try to hide the ugly parts of who I am… You either love me or hate me, but if you love me… I’ll always be loyal, no fucking matter what 😉
I can be called a billon different things—daughter, wife, mother, labor unit nurse. I sell pussy on the side. *Coughs* That would be Persian kittens, thank you…you dirty-minded scoundrel. I’m a book blogger, book pimp, and a book whore. My two indulgences are my Jack’s in life…Jack Daniel’s and Blackjack. My biggest dream, the day I’ll acknowledge that I’ve succeeded in life and can I die a happy woman, is the day I get to go two stark-naked hour-round sexual bouts with Jason Statham. *Sighs*
I was born and raised in Louisiana… and No, I do NOT live in a bayou, I actually see the beaches on the gulf coast more than I see a bayou, lol. I started writing poems and short stories very early in my life. You know, for the Michaels and Leos and Nicks in my life. I’ve been a book hoarder since I was eleven years old, but then a couple years ago something wonderful happened! The 50 Shades of Grey craze brought to life my inner smut whore and I commenced to read anything and everything smut affiliated. When reading wasn’t enough anymore and I noticed that so many of the authors of my favorite indie authors and their books weren’t getting the exposure their work deserved, I turned it into a mission, starting my own blog, buying their books and reading them one by one. I then wrote my reviews for my blog and didn’t hold back in writing them (Hell yeah those motherfuckers a profanity laden). I’ve never done a single thing in my life halfway. I always go all in. After the success of my Blog, and the insistence of one of my bestest friends, my sister from another mister, Trina Taylor of Bad & Dirty Books, I was ready to finally take the plunge and see if I could write a book that was worth a damn. I’m a Southern girl to my core, a self-proclaimed smut whore, and I keep hearing that I’m an author, but honestly… I don’t believe the rumors, lol. I don’t feel like a kickass bitch spittin’ out lyrics, or stories, like a motherfuckin’ rockstar.
Tattooed across my ribs are the words I have always lived by: ‘Aut viam inveniam aut faciam tibi.’ Latin for: If I cannot find a way, I will make my own.

Forager
Forager Blurb
Eighteen-year-old Ethan Jones lives in Newhome, a town built upon the decaying ruins of post-apocalyptic Melbourne, ruins haunted by the ferocious Skel, a nomadic tribe of degenerate savages.
The Skel are ramping up their attacks on Newhome’s foraging teams and infesting Melbourne’s ruins in ever greater numbers. Is this part of a larger plan that could spell the town’s doom?
Meanwhile, the last thing Ethan expects when he and his companions rescue a two-car convoy from the Skel is a Japanese teenage girl with an outlandish dress-sense, who after they take her back to Newhome, goes to great lengths to ingratiate herself into his life. But is it in gratitude for saving her life or is she seeking something more?
And what a quandry she places him in, for he knows the rules, that no man is permitted to be alone with an unmarried woman. But how can he drive such a gentle soul away when she touchs his heart so deeply, even though she clearly carries the pain of a broken heart.
At the same time, Newhome’s police force, the Custodians, are suspicious of Ethan’s foraging team’s successes and are pulling out the stops to find out which member of his team has the illegal mutant ability that gives them an edge over the other teams.
Should these peacekeepers discover Ethan is the mutant they seek, they will haul him away and dissect him like a frog.
My Review
I enjoyed reading this book ever much. We get the story from Ethan, a boy living in a post-war town. It’s after a world war three that they weren’t prepared for. The year is 2122 and not at all what I expected.
Ethan is a forager…he goes out with his crew to look for precious metals. Ethan’s crew is the best at this because Ethan has a bit of a secret…A secret that doesn’t take us every long to be told which I liked. I hate when as a reader you know there is something going on but it takes forever for that something to be told.
Ethan and his team seem like a tight knit group but sadly a few tragedies do befall them as well.
Seemingly out of the blue the “guard” that police the town show up to escort Ethan and his crew and the action picks up the pace fairly quickly. Dodging attacks by the Skels – sort of nomadic people who ambush people, and rescuing two Japanese people from a convey gone wrong we see a spark enter Ethan’s eyes when he meets the what appears to be a young Japanese girl with pink bangs…
There are secrets and mysteries all through out this book and underlying things going on that we have yet to get an answer for but there is another book in this story and I look forward to gobbling it up once it is out.
The Forager had action, suspense, and even a bit of love thrown in. A very good read and I can’t wait for the next one to come out.
About the Author
Biography
Peter Stone, an avid student of history, was reading books on Ancient Greece from the age of four. His periods of interest include the ancient world, medieval era, Napoleonic times, and the Second World War. He still mourns the untimely passing of King Leonidas of Sparta and Field Marshal Michel Ney of France.
A child of the Cold War Generation, Peter Stone studied the ramifications of a nuclear missile strike when he was in his senior year of high school, learning the effects of nuclear fallout and how to (hopefully) survive it. He has ever been drawn to post-apocalyptic and dystopian novels and films, and eagerly devoured The Day of the Triffids and John Christopher’s Tripod Trilogy when he was a child.
Peter Stone graduated from Melbourne School of Ministries Bible College in 1988. He has been teaching Sunday School and playing the keyboard in church for over twenty-five years. His wife is from Japan and they have two wonderful children. Peter Stone has worked in the same games company for over twenty years, but still does not comprehend why they expect him to work all day instead of playing games.
Review – Raw by Belle Aurora
Started reading Raw Wednesday night…had to make myself go to bed instead of pulling an all nighter…then decided it would be a good idea to finish it at work the next day. Mistake…hard to explain why you’re crying like a two year old while reading on your iPad at work…then I came home and was so exhausted I fell asleep at 330 pm and didn’t wake up into 130 am…that is what Raw did to me…
My Review
This may seem like a bad review but it’s not. It’s so fucking not. I am in love with this damn book. It spoke to my soul.
Love is a drug and like any drug you will do anything to have it…
Raw oh my good I’m conflicted I’m loving it but I hate it! If that makes sense. It’s like the story of my soul. I get it. Maybe I’m just damaged lol but it brings home the fact that one act can change your life regardless of if you know it or not.
But it’s one of those I can see why ppl hate it hahahaha but it’s so gritty and real all the bad stuff they said I can see it. Hell I’ve lived it. Anyone who’s loved a boy that they knew was bad for them but did anyway even though it went against everything they believed in. Shit is believable. Ppl are too caught up on the sappy happy books, they have a time and place but this shit hits home it’s like my poetry to me. Real and unfiltered. Raw just like the book says. Everything is laid bare and I love it.
Sometimes we want things in life and don’t know how to ask for it. Sometimes we just want someone else to recognize the pieces that are missing within out hearts, our souls. My heart hurt reading this book. It heart for all the times I thought someone had seen me only to realize that it was a lie. Twitch saw Lexi but she didn’t see him but as the reader I saw him.
The part where she talks about the good and bad of their “relationship” is poetic in its explanation. Summed up to what so many live by…”I’ll take the bad just so I can have the good.” So many people stay in a relationship that’s going to open them wide open and pour salt in their wounds just for those small smiles and the unguarded touches. Those moments keep you going and staying even when your head so no. But your heart, your damn bleeding heart says yes. Stay along for the ride because we will get to have that moment on more damn time! Gah, this book is ruining me…
You know it’s bad when you’re lying to your best friend. When you’ve never had secrete before. Is it shame we feel or something else? Love is something that no one can really explain when they feel it. It makes you do things you didn’t know you were capable of doing. And when it’s gone…it takes a part of you right down to your soul and makes you physically sick so you sometimes hang on even when you know you shouldn’t.
The conflict he felt for falling in love even when he wasn’t trying. That’s the love that hits and hurts the hardest. The love you never saw coming.
I get this book so much. Parts could be my life. Knowing someone’s bad for you, they treat you like crap, you swear you’re mad and will never talk to them or you’re gonna give them a piece of your mind, but you see them and everything stops. You just want to get that moment back again. It’s easier to give in then to fight…I get it all to well.
And that song…that damn Maroon 5 song “One More Night,” I can’t even…no words. Perfect…
I love that Twitch is getting attached to someone. In his own way he likes Michael.
And now I’m crying like a newborn baby and I need a blanket and a pillow. I’m done…so done. Why, why, why?? I’m never going to recover from this…
Favorite quote:
“What’s your name?”
“Doesn’t matter. You’ll forget it once I’m gone.”
“No, I won’t.”
