Lark Adams is the dark urban fantasy author of the Twisted Eventide series, first novel titled Snow Covered Moon. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Lark received two Associates degrees one in computer aided drafting and another in mechanical engineering. But her true passion and love has always been for the written word.
She’s currently working on her seventh novel, the first in the Sin Eater series – Fall of the Faithful. When not writing or designing mechanical systems she enjoys reading a good novel, drinking a good cup of coffee and letting the words on the page take her to new exciting places.

We’re often told tales of the underworlds to feed the darkest corners of our nightmares. We tuck them away with the sunlight and laugh away the fear our minds created. But the daylight offers no relief for Zari. She’s hidden her waking nightmare as nothing more than a damaged past. The venom of her secrets consumes her, as well as those she cares for most. Emmett, the love of her life and the only one with a past dark enough to respect her space, becomes a pawn in the war against the demonic force which is her bloodright. Can Zari overpower those out to get her to feed on the innocent? Can she save Emmett from the evil of Slither?
I’ll start with what I did like about this story…I liked the fact that the paranormal aspect was something totally different from werewolves or vampires although they are my favorite to read about. The mythology that was presented about the origins of the snake creature were interesting but I would have liked more…especially since this was a standalone novel. The opening was interesting and drew my attention but as the story continued my attention wasn’t held firmly with the NEED to consume every word like it was law.
I will say the book was very well edited and I didn’t see one error. And although described as horror/paranormal I felt not an ounce of fear and I’m a horror fan. Nothing gets me going like a good scare. Maybe horror on paper doesn’t translate as well as horror on film.
I did get confused a bit…I thought their were two sisters when their was only one, a grandmother, and parents.
Zari and Emmett’s abuse seems to tie them together but you can also see the love they have.
What I didn’t enjoy was the every other woman introduced seemed to be in love or instant lust with Emmett and especially since one of those women were supposed to be Zari’s best friend. It added nothing to the story in my opinion.
Some introduction of characters seemed to have no real purpose…I say that only because once the event was over we didn’t hear anything else about them. I would have thought we would since she played a part in a certain scene, so I figured the MC would have at least tried to stay in touch with her. But the main problem was that I really didn’t care about the characters. Whether they lived or died.
The concept of this book was what drew me to want to read it however the execution from the idea to the end result didn’t hold my interest nearly as much as I would have liked. It’s a good story and if you find yourself wanting to read something different I say go for it. To give a bit of perspective it’s a good book to pick up for an in between book. I enjoyed it for what it was but it’s not a reread for me.
Would I read another book from this author? Yes, if I came across one that peeked my interest.
Would I pre order or auto buy? Not at the moment.
Great job Ms. Kinney I will casually be on the look out of what you may come up with next in the paranormal genre.
Like this blog post and leave a comment and I will randomly pick one person to send an ecopy of Slither to. I will pick the winner September 5th, 2015 @ noon.
After weeks of nothing, I’m finally back in the writing cave pumping out word after word. I started this story last year after first writing the character in Dark Indiscretions: A Prequel…I knew I wanted more of her. I just couldn’t let her go. Now she’s finally getting to tell the rest of her story aside from that small glimpse you were shown in A Prequel. There is so much more to Callisto than meets the eyes and I can’t wait to share her with the rest of the world. For now enjoy this extended sneak peek into the life of a Legacy!
From chapter 5…
So what are you thoughts? I really hope everyone enjoys the first book in the Dark Indiscretions: Chronicles series. It is a spin-off of the Dark Indiscretions series. So far I only have four plan and Callisto’s is the only that coincides with the Dark Indiscretions timeline by the end of the book…the rest will take place before the events of Dark Indiscretions book one. They are more backstories of characters then anything else. Until next time. Now back to writing.

“Imagine being human, then waking the next day to find you’re the Guardian Valkyrie, whose duty is to protect the souls of fallen warriors. One little catch… I have to find them first!”
Fallon Creed’s life has been turned upside down and she must find the missing warrior souls before others with less than honorable intentions can get their hands on them. She not only has to face these new enemies, she also learns that someone close to her is not who she said she was.
With the aid of two powerful brothers, Fallon starts to embrace her role as the Guardian. When her strength as a Valkyrie is tested, she starts to have doubts as to whether she can live up to the job.
Time doesn’t matter to those who are Immortal…..unless you’re the Guardian. If Fallon doesn’t find all the souls in time, it could mean the end of her existence as well as the rest of the world’s.
Although Tragically Wicked has the N.L. humor that we fell in love with in Daughters of Darkness Trilogy, it is still in a league of it’s own. Fallon just wanted to run her tattoo shop with her best friend and leave her troubled past behind her. But it seems several other people have their own plans for Fallon. She doesn’t know who to trust in the new supernatural world she’s been tossed into. With crazy gods and other supernatuarals trying to distract her from her destiny, Fallon takes extreme measures to protect what she now considers her people. Everything and everyone are not what they seem but all Fallon wants to do is complete her mission as Guardian before it comes back to bite her in the ass. Fast-paced, kiss ass females and the men who believe they need protecting will make you laugh out loud. One of my favorite quotes on which I almost spit my drink out:
“Devil worshippers!” I hissed.
Fallon is hilarious and witty but don’t piss her off.
Highly recommended if you enjoy paranormal, humor, and strong female leads.

Back in 2013 I met this guy Kyle online. We went on a date and I really enjoyed it. I was convinced our love would be written in the stars. That he was the one I’d been looking for all my life. Everything seemed to be falling into place. I thought…
Rarely do the things we want actually happen. I’d convinced myself that the signs were aligning and that he was my happy ever after. I was very sadly mistaken. It took me a while to let go though. So I started writing letters to kyle of how I felt or what I was thinking.
This is a non fiction account of 11 letters I wrote to Kyle from October to November 2013. It’s raw and gritty in it’s true form. Nothing has been changed. It is also a companion to my poem collection, “Inside The Heart of my Soul” which is free on smashwords and barnes and noble and 99 cents on Amazon…

When you feel as though your world is falling apart and the only person you want to talk to doesn’t want to talk to you…what do you do? You write them a letter of course! Over the course of about two months that is exactly what I did. I wrote letters to Kyle that he will never see…
