Venefica Publishing Presents – Shakuita Johnson featured in SMUT!

What can I say… I started writing poetry in middle school… It was my escape from some bad days and I poured those unfortunate memories on to paper in an effect to purge them from my life. I had no idea that over 10+ years later I’d have started to write and publish an actually book! To say the last three years have been eye-opening, exhilarating, and at times exhausting, it’s taught me many things about myself. I’ve had the dream of owning my own publishing company for almost 2 years now and it’s finally a reality. With the help of an amazing friend I’ve met through this book community, Lark Adams, we’re finally releasing our first publication.

We hope SMUT is a huge hit and leads the way for more to come.

The stories I submitted took me out of my comfort zone and I hoppe to write more stories like them. ENJOY and make sure you pick up your copy ASAP!

Mature audiences only. Contains M/F scenes and adult language

Venefica Publishing Presents – Stephanie Kelley featured in SMUT

Stephanie Kelley

I’m a newbie to the world of published fiction.  I’ve always written, it’s just who I am. My two short stories featured in Smut are my first ever published works.

In high school, I filled my schedule with as many creative writing courses as I could fit into my schedule.  If I didn’t have a few pages for my friends to read on the bus home, I wouldn’t hear the end of it until one of us got off the bus. Those short scribbled stories for my friends often ended up as part of our annual high school literary magazine.

I went to college for Journalism. I had a radio show for three years, worked behind the scenes on our college television news program, and was the photographer and copy editor for the college paper. Whatever my class schedule, I always managed to sneak at least one creative writing class. I had a few instructors that I butted heads with creatively, and it always made for interesting classes

I’ve kept up writing through the years, but nothing was ever finished. I decided last year after some prompting from a dear friend, who is an amazing best selling author in her own right,  that I needed to buckle down,  finish something and put my own stories out there.  I realized I was hiding. I’d been hiding for years behind fear of failure. And I was tired of hiding behind fear. I grabbed onto the quote from Erin Hanson “Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?” and did my best to fly. I told myself, I’d have something out by the end of 2016. Now I have two short stories in Smut, and a full length novel that is currently on track to be released in January 2017. It’s been a journey this last year, and I have a lot of amazing people standing behind me that have been a great support system.

As far as my stories featured in Smut, they were both fun little pieces for me to write. By the Moon came about when I was scrolling through Pinterest while looking for inspiration for a painting that I never ended up doing. I came across a silhouetted graphic for Beltaine, also known as May Day, of a couple. The girl had a crown of flowers while the guy had antlers like Pan. I kept coming back to that graphic, I wanted to know their story.

Red is my take on the Red Riding Hood tale. This story actually came about because I was having a lousy day and was venting to my best friend from childhood. Somewhere in my rant that day I made a comment about Red Riding Hood. My bestie stops me and says, “That’s it. That’s the story you need to do. You said it, you can’t back out of it.”

I don’t know what she saw in me that I didn’t that day, but when you’ve been friends with someone for over 30 years, it’s best to listen to them. And I’m glad I did. I’m quite proud of this little short, and looking forward to what else is in store for Poppy and Harkin.  Keep an eye out on my Facebook page for updates on my projects.

My first full length novel, Steal the Sun, I am looking to release mid to late January of 2017. This is the first book in this series.

Steal the Sun is a supernatural story set in Alaska at the end of gold mining season. Something has caused towns folks and miners to go missing, but the disappearances are not what the Sesi family is used too and their gold mine could be next. The Sesi family has kept the supernatural population in lower Alaska in check since before the Alaskan gold rush, but like any family, they have their secrets from each other too. Secrets that could put them in harm’s way or tear them apart.

If you’d like to read something that’s not your typical garden variety shape shifter with a flirty merman thrown in, follow my Facebook page for updates regarding the upcoming release.

It was just supposed to be one night last summer, just a fling with him at his welcome home party. Just one hot, delicious, drunken romp in his truck was all we agreed on. Except we couldn’t keep our hands off each other and it turned into all night.

Rome was the guy all the local girls wanted; good family name, easy on the eyes,  skilled with his hands.  And I didn’t need linked to him.  I didn’t want to be in the shadowed spot light that was his life.

Now that man, who swore by the moon in a drunken confession that he was a witch, was at my library, silently waiting for me when I left work. I didn’t know what he wanted but he’d promised me magic that night last summer.  I didn’t believe in magic, but I knew the way he looked at me made me want to go back on my word.

Dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair…  Wait, that’s the opening for my favorite Eagles song. Probably shouldn’t be drinking and telling you this, but it kinda sucks to be the wolf with no Red Riding Hood to seduce when one is in a mood,  wait,  I mean chase… chase, that’s it. That is, until he shows up with flaming red hair and lots of muscles.

I’m a 36 year old sci fi geek who wishes Firefly was never canceled. I like silly hats, karaoke, and don’t say “shiny” nearly enough. I’m a straight up goof who has an obsession with all things gummy and makeup.

I work full time while pretending to be an adult. Who decided it was a good idea to invent rolly chairs that spin anyway?  Chances are if you walk by my cubicle and I’m bopping along to my headphones there is a good chance it’s Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Dorothy or The Pretty Reckless.

I have a degree in Journalism but write supernatural and fantasy stories. Something about the juxtaposition of those two things never fails to amuse me.

Venefica Publishing Presents – Nina Gabrielle featured in SMUT!

Nina Makes her Debut!

By Nina Gabrielle

When I started this writing journey a little over two years ago, I was naïve, inexperienced and maybe even a bit over my head. I knew nothing of what I know now, just that I wanted to get my stories out unto the world.

Now two years later 3 novellas, many short stories, I am finally crossing over into the erotica genre. I write under a pen name anyway, but for this new smexier version of that, I had to come up with something that was a bit sexy, but still mysterious. Like who is Nina? And what can she do?

I admit I first signed up to do the SMUT anthology purely out of let’s see if I can do this. Let’s see if I can write purely sex, and make the sex good enough that readers would appreciate whatever my voice is as an erotica writer. Let me be clear as this is the first time I have written erotica. So in the process I am still trying to figure out what my voice is as Nina. How can I tell a story that will get the readers want to read something else from me afterwards?

So how did I come up with the idea? Let’s just say that an event or experience from life can sometimes pop its way into fiction. Even sometimes a fantasy can makes its way into fiction and a story is spun. I won’t say what is what to protect the innocent, but I did truly have fun writing these stories.

Last Friday Night is a short story of what goes down in a sex club on Friday Nights!!

F*ck Me Please is a short story about a woman wanting to be constantly pleased by her fiancé and things get a little spicy and smutty.

I really hope you all like them as much as I do. On December 20, 2016 Nina will be introduced to the world!

What Happens on Friday’s is our little secret… Jessica has a little secret. She met her husband Peter in a sex club two years ago, and her life has been satisfying ever since. But work calls Peter away for the whole week and leaves the weekends free for fun, f*cking and no holds bared.

Sometimes offices are for work, and sometimes offices are for f*cking!
Jennifer want nothing more than to be f*cked all over and sideways by her fiancé who is always at work. Taking matters into her own hands she decides that this time the ball was in her court.
Nina is a sassy woman from NY! Being new to the erotica world she writes sexy smut while juggling a host of things.
Nina is innocent, with just enough freak in her to get the job done…and yes, in her books as well. 😉

RANDOM SNEAK PEEK!

Shadow-Born-Nook“They’re conniving, manipulative, and take things that don’t belong to them.” Maddock hissed, then shoved to his feet. “Such as the fae that have been going missing recently.”

“Well, I can’t argue with that,” I muttered, eyeing him warily. He was glaring at me, as if this were somehow my fault. “But how do you know it’s the witches doing this? A symbol on a wall isn’t what I call concrete evidence.”

Maddock crossed his arms and glared down at me, making my heart jump into my throat. “So yer defending them now? Somehow I’m not surprised.”

His sarcastic tone was so accusatory that his behavior suddenly made sense. All the animosity, the condemning glares…

“You think I’m a witch, don’t you?” I jabbed a finger at him. “That’s why you don’t like me, and why you always look at me like I’m a piece of shit stuck to your shoe.”

“I dinnae know what ye are,” Maddock growled, clamping his hand around my forearm. “Aside from a heaping of trouble. But right now, I need ye, which is why I’m tolerating yer presence in this city. Now let’s get going already. I’ve something to show ye.”

What Early Readers Are Saying…

“This paranormal urban fantasy is full of action, twists and turns, and suspense along with a bit of romance. The strong and engaging characters are well developed as is the fast paced plot. I highly recommend to all who love reading this type of story and especially to fans of Laurell K. Hamilton, Karen Marie Moning, Sherriyn Kenyon, or Patricia Briggs.” – Jo Anne Vincenti

I was really taken with this first book in a hopefully long series. There was plenty of action, and the plot moved along so swiftly, you were at the end without realizing it, a mark of a good book. I really didn’t want it to end and really want to read the next one. I found the book similar to Nalini Singh’s Archangel series, Yasmine Galenorn’s Otherworld series, and Kim Harrison’s Hollows series. I highly recommend this book; it is so worth it!” – PenKay

“I preordered Shodow Born and could not wait for it to come out. Then when I heard it being compared to Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake series I was skeptical but even more excited. This is hard for me to say but I think I love it even more. I can not wait for the next book in the series and what Brook Chandler does next.” – sarapinn0704

“She finds many discrepancies with those around her in the station and people surrounding her. Just when you think you know what is going to happen another curve ball is thrown at you. This has the hallmark of becoming a great series, Fans of the Mercy Thompson, Kate Daniels and Allie Beckman series will want to add this one as well.” – Amazon Customer

This book reminds me of early Anita Blake. Great pacing and action, with a rich setting and well-drawn characters. Brooke is a strong lead and Maddock is great as the engimatic, ancient Fae she is drawn to despite her best efforts not to be. I can see this series becoming one of the big UF hitters as the story unfolds in subsequent books.” – Charity Vandehey

“Be prepared, the kids won’t get fed and hell you may not even remember what they are wearing to school in the morning because you’ve been clueless to everything else.” – Amazon Customer

About the Author:

Untitled1McKayla loves to write books about sexy werewolves. She is a stay at home mom of two in the state of Wyoming. Born in California, she misses the hot weather all of the time. Her goals for the year was to publish her new series, Shifting Tactics. Mom of two little ones can take time but she is pushing to finish her work to get more books out for her lovely fans.

Ever since she was little she wanted to be a writer but doubters said that it would be impossible to make money at it. She is pushing herself hard to show them they are wrong.

Excerpt:

Chapter One

“You’re pregnant, Scarlet,” Rift said, a smile beaming from his face. A wave of nausea hit, making Scarlet’s stomach squeeze, her throat tighten, and her head spin a little.

Scarlet’s gaze shifted from Oscar to Rift then back again as her brain worked over what Rift said. Her hand instantly touched her abdomen, half expecting some kind of movement to happen.

“Really?” The one word fell from her mouth before she fully formed a better sentence. Knowing damn well not using protection led to this outcome, but she also wasn’t expecting it to happen so fast or the first time. Damn, I was so not expecting it to happen the first freaking time.

“Your scent changed last night.” Rift smiled at her, trying to calm her down.

“It shouldn’t be a big surprise, Scarlet. You have two strong alphas as your mates.” Oscar puffed out his chest. Scarlet glanced outside toward the barn. All the females Alen changed currently lived in there. Her mates decided it was the safest place for them until Alen was captured. They were all under direct orders not to hunt for the dickhead. Her mates were worried if they placed the females in a home, Alen would kill them. She couldn’t wait for the girls to be out of the barn and in their own home.

Thinking about Ava and her pregnancy brought Scarlet back to earth. Nausea hit like a truck, but she managed to push down the urge to vomit. Changing the topic seemed like a better option than hurling her breakfast up. Her hand rubbed small circles on her stomach while she swallowed hard. Inhaling through her nose and exhaling through her mouth helped her upset stomach.

“Is it safe to go to the store?” She watched both of their bodies instantly tense up. Oscar clenched his fist.

“No,” Oscar said without hesitation.

“I have agreed to stay home till this Alen guy is caught, but I am getting a little stir crazy, and it is my store. I need to make sure my employees are well and everything is in order.” Spending the last two weeks cooped up in the house was driving her insane. Yes, the home was spacious, but she had finished four books on her reading list and cleaned everything in the building including the two sheds out back.

“Out of the question,” Oscar growled.

BLISSFUL VALENTINE

EXCERPT :

He stops and meets

my gaze, then bends down and grabs a mound of snow, packing into a

tight ball. He takes a step back and winds his arm, throwing the

snowball straight and fast. It smacks against the metal sign on the

far end of the small pond near a cluster of benches, breaking off

into a multitude of pieces.

He wipes his hands

off on his pants. “Give it a try.”

I shake my head. “No

way, I throw like a girl.”

His picks up a mound

of snow and packs it together, forming a perfect sphere. He hands me

the snowball and stands behind me, pressing his body against mine. My

heartbeats thump against my chest, causing a surge of adrenaline to

rush through my veins. I tremble, holding the snowball in my right

hand. At least I can blame the cold for my shaky arm. He runs his

hand down to my wrist and pulls it back, up toward my shoulder.

He rests his head on

my shoulder and talks softly into my ear. “Pull your arm back to

here and step forward at the same time you throw.” He moves to the

side.

Goosebumps form on

my neck from his warm breath gliding against my cool skin. My stomach

flutters. Here

goes nothing.

I stare at the metal No Parking sign and pull my arm back, throwing

the snowball as I step forward. Tiny fragments of snow fly through

the air. A direct hit.

I clap my hands and

bounce up and down on my toes. “Holy crap, I actually did it. I

didn’t think I could hit the broad side of a barn.” Dean comes

over and raises his hand to give me a high five. I lunge forward and

pull him into a hug, before I realize what I’m doing. My chest

tightens and heat creeps across my cheek.

He wraps his arms

around my waist and presses his body against mine. I step back and

ease away, dropping my arms to my sides. “We better head back, I’ve

still got lots of physics studying to do if I plan on passing the

semester.”

He rubs the back of

his neck and nods.

I slide my frozen

hands into my pockets and hold them in tight fists. Note to self:

when

I think I’m finished embarrassing myself I’m usually wrong.

The perfect

untouched blanket of snow moves into an array of chaos as we turn the

corner to my apartment. My heart beats faster with each step I take

forward. This walk is taking forever. If I don’t get away from Dean

soon, I may end up doing something else I shouldn’t. I mean, we’re

just friends. I take a deep breath and slowly exhale as we approach

my driveway.

I dig in my purse

and pull out my keys. “Thanks for my victory celebration.”

He places his hand

in the small of my back on our way toward my steps. “First of

many.” His hand moves to my waist.

Summersaults take

over my stomach. I step onto the first step. My boot slips along the

rim of the concrete edge covered in a thin layer of ice and instantly

it knocks me off balance. My hands flail through the air, desperately

trying to grab onto anything.

Dean jumps into

action, catching me before my head smacks against the hard sidewalk.

I grab onto his sculpted bicep and pull myself to my feet.

Fire burns through

my cheeks, which are no doubt fire-engine red. I drop my chin to my

chest and hunch my shoulders. He lifts my chin and gazes into my

eyes. My heart pounds against the walls of my chest. Electric

shockwaves flows through my veins. He leans in closer. My lips part

and lava flows through my body. He tucks a stray strand of hair

behind my ear. “I knew you’d fall for me sooner or later.” He

places a soft kiss on my cheek and takes a step back, turning and

walking away.

1. Can you tell us a bit about the main characters.

Brooke Powers is goal-oriented freshman who wants to focus on her studies and avoid the party scene along with all the trouble that goes along with it.

Dean Parker is an enticingly charismatic fraternity brother and star player on Lakeview U’s baseball team.

When Brooke’s roommate drags her to a fraternity party, an unexpected mishap causes her wake up in Dean’s bed throwing her strategically planned future into complete chaos.

2. How did you think of this story? What inspired you?

Since Dean and Brooke were already a couple in Blissful Tragedy, I wanted to elaborate on their awesome relationship. I decided to go back in time to the girls college years and tell the story. I have to be honest, I was inspired by some of my great college memories.

Valentine’s Day isn’t always complete bliss.

4. Do you get writers block? How do you cure it?

I think every writer gets writers block at some point or another. I try and look to other sources to cure it, like music or re-watching some of my favorite movies for inspiration.

5. Top 5 Favorite Books

1. Beautiful Disaster

2. The Notebook

3. Fifty Shades of Grey

4. Dark Love

5. Thoughtless

6. I know you are a huge music fan AND Led Zeppelin fan. What songs help you write?

I usually come up with a play list based on the book I’m writing. When I wrote Blissful Valentine, I listened to Thank You by Led Zeppelin, Love Song by Tesla, Lay it on the Line by Triumph, Caught up in you by 38 Special, I Can’t Fight this Feeling Anymore by REO Speedwagon, My Kinda Lover by Billy Squire, and Talk Dirty to Me by Poison.

Review – Speak of the Devil by J.M. Gregoire

Taken from Goodreads…

Nearly half a year has passed since Asmodeus opened the gateway allowing an unknown number of demons to spill onto our plane of existence. A fatal standoff has left Dez on her own to hunt the stray demons down and send them back to Hell where they belong. Her life has become a never-ending cycle of violence and bloodshed, further tainted by a deepening depression and a longing for the person she had to leave behind.

When Dez receives an unexpected phone call, she makes her way to the northern Arizona desert to see an old friend. Upon arrival, there is a message waiting for her from beyond the grave, and she realizes before she can go any further, she must face the one thing she’s been dreading for months. To make matters worse, the message is meant to help her mission, but it forces Dez into an impossible choice.

Only Dez can decide which road to take, but will she be able to handle the consequences of her decision?

Where to even begin…we pick up 6 months after the events from The Devil You Know and things aren’t looking to good for Dez. She’s lonely and her days and nights consist of dealing with the escaped demons from the gateway. She’s missing Vegas and wondering why he hasn’t called. Through all that Dez gets a call from an old friend requesting her presence straight away…A few new characters are introduced, some I loved while others I wanted to punch in the face.

We see some other old faces and when things seem to be falling into a semblance of routine Dez and Vegas are blindsided by a face all thought was dead…I don’t want to give away too many details but it was a rollercoaster ride of touch and go emotions for a bit. I will say some great developments were had and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment in this unique series…we hear some hard truths from some of the lies that were being told.

There is an array of new information and I’m curious of what will become of it. But through it all Vegas and Dez are strong as ever together and I look forward to what their new abilities will bring to the table. Make sure you check out Burning, The Devil You Know, and Suffering before Speak of the Devil hits retailers later this month 🙂
