You can imagine the characters and settings the way you want to. I hope everybody will enjoy reading it.

If you are fan of “The Lord of the Rings“, “Indiana Jones“, “Narnia” or “Harry Potter” you probably will like it a lot.

Brief Summary of The Legend of The Moonstone

After his participation in a top secret project, the famous teller of legends and myths, Professor of Mineralogy, Bernard Stransky, receives a present like no other – an enormous, glittering, gem. Little does he know that this legendary stone will bring with it a world of mystery and danger. The stone seems to hold strange powers beyond mere beauty, perhaps even a prophecy that travels with it. The sparkling Moonstone belongs to Professor Stransky, but he isn’t the stone’s real master. Part of the hidden heart of the mystery planet, the gem is the subject of an intense worldwide search by Upper Souls whose ultimate duty is to find and restore the stone to its rightful place. According to their beliefs, the special and powerful stone, belongs to them and their families. That’s not quite true! The Uppers wants to possess the Moonstone only because they think they are the Better part of their tribe. They are ready to do whatever it takes them to possess the stone and for them only that matters!

The Moonstone have to be returned back to its guardians, but a storm of supernatural, amazing and unexpected circumstances and surprising tricks of fate follow in its wake.

Cover Reveal – The Queen of Swords by Nina Mason

It’s my pleasure to help reveal the cover for the upcoming novel The Queen of Swords by Nina Mason. What a gorgeous cover!

ItQueen of Swords3

ABOUT THE BOOK

Taglines:

A paranormal tale of undying love.

A love powerful enough to reach beyond the grave.

Short blurb:

THE QUEEN OF SWORDS tells the story of a white witch who returns every hundred years to reunite with her soul mate, who’s been earthbound by a dark wizard’s curse. Will she find a way for them to be together this time around?

Longer Blurb:

When Graham Logan draws the Queen of Swords, he knows he’s about to meet the love of his life. For the third time. But surrendering his heart will mean risking her life…or making her what he is–two things his beliefs won’t allow him to do. Graham rages at God: Why give her back only to take her again?

Cat Fingal, the third coming of Graham’s beloved, won’t let him slip away so easily. A white witch, she casts a spell to summon him—for answers, among other things.

Graham has other problems, too. Like the seductress who wants him for herself and the dark wizard who cursed him and killed Cat the first two times.

Will she find a way to save him this time around?

EXCERPTS

Graham had just come upon the misplaced diaries—in the cupboard under the stairs—when he caught a whiff of something burning. Concerned, he stepped back into the foyer. A quick look around revealed nothing unusual. He sniffed the air, again detecting smoke, though none of the toxic undertones of a house fire. Neither did it smell of a choked chimney. It was, in fact, pleasantly herbal—like the juniper-laced bonfires of Beltane he knew in his youth. Was Branwen burning incense…or Benedict trying out a new pipe tobacco?

Shrugging it off, he grabbed the box of diaries and headed for the stairs. As he climbed, so did the smoke. A picture of Caitriona came into his mind. Or was it Catharine…or the new one? He couldn’t be sure as she was naked and her hair hung loose. As she reached for him, he saw something odd: a blue fire the size of a pilot light in the center of each palm.

Like moth to flame, you yearn for light. Come from shadow into my sight.

The words whispered. Caitriona disappeared. Desire blossomed. What was going on? At the top of the stairs, he was sweating and dizzy. Every nerve ending, every vein, burned like fire. He raced down the hall toward his bedchamber, dropping the box as he shot through the doorway. Bending to collect his spilled diaries, he startled at what he saw:

He had no hands. And no feet.

The smoke and ethers enveloped, pulling him apart cell by cell until he felt like the sands of time moving through an hourglass. The cosmos was silent except for a haunting echo—like the sound inside a seashell. He felt at once connected to everything and nothing. Adrift and yet highly attuned. He was blind yet all seeing; numb yet hypersensitive; defenseless yet omnipotent. Others were there, too—phantasmal energies blowing past and passing through like sleet.

The next thing he knew, he was on his back, winded and disoriented. The room was dark save for the flicker of a solitary candle. He could make out only two pale shapes. The larger one, he presumed, was a bed, the smaller one, by the window, his summoner. His nostrils flared, seeking her scent, but found only the spices of the smoke.

“I told ye to stay away from me,” he growled. “Why did ye not listen?”

*****

“Just so ye know, vampires don’t kill—except by accident, of course, or to commit deliberate murder.”

The sound of his deep, musical burr quickened Cat’s pulse. It could only be the good-looking Scot who’d been checking her out from the stacks for the past twenty minutes.

“Excuse me?” She raised her eyes from Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, but did not turn around. There was no need. She’d already memorized every detail of his appearance while he skirted her gaze. Each time she looked his way, hoping to catch his eye, he was conveniently reading the book in his hand. Each time she returned to her work, the prickling hairs on the back of her neck gave away his game.

He seemed uncannily familiar too, though she couldn’t place him. The proud stance, powerful build, and thick copper hair all struck a chord—a sweet arpeggio that resonated somewhere deep inside.

“The average adult has five liters of blood,” he began to explain, “and the average stomach can hold fewer than two.” He paused to shift gears. “She’s also wrong about the coffins. And the impotence—though the book remains one of my favorites of the genre.”

“Mine too.” She set the gold-clad novel on the table beside her laptop. “Do you go here? You seem familiar.”

“Nay. I went to Saint Andrew’s ages ago.”

She still didn’t turn. “Oh? Then what brings you here?”

“I just moved to the village,” he said, “and heard the university had an impressive collection of vampire literature. So, I thought I’d see for myself—to kill a wee bit of time. But it seems ye’ve beaten me to it.”

“For my dissertation,” she offered quickly, pinging with guilt. She did not add that renewal of her faculty contract hinged on her finishing her Ph.D. before the term ended in three more weeks. Or that she was hopelessly behind. If she told him how under-the-gun she felt, he might leave. And she wanted to keep talking to him.

He was undeniably handsome. Bodice-ripper, book-cover handsome. Straight nose with a slight flare at the end; strong jaw and jutting chin; prominent brow and cheekbones; intense, deep-set eyes that turned down at the corners ever so slightly; and a sweet, kissable mouth whose tucked lower lip made it both boyish and sensual.

Apart from the biker jacket and boots, he might have stepped out of one of the Highlander romances she read every chance she got—a longstanding guilty pleasure. For some inexplicable reason, she’d been attracted to all things Scottish for as long as she could remember.

He reached past her, selected Dracula off her stack of reference material, and began looking through it. She could hear the pages turning behind her, but couldn’t bring herself to turn round. If she met his eyes, she would melt like butter.

“He was lucky to have no reflection to fuck with his head.”

His voice brought her back, but only partly. “Who?”

“Count Dracula.”

“Oh.” Embarrassment scorched her cheeks. “It was meant to symbolize that he had no soul.”

“I ken that. But is it true, do ye think?”

Cat knew from her Highlander romances the word “ken” meant “know” in Scots, but was otherwise confused by his question. Why did she find his closeness so discomposing? Men, even good-looking ones, rarely had this effect on her.

“Is what true?”

“That vampires have no souls,” he clarified. “That they’re eternally damned.”

“I don’t believe in—”

When she didn’t go on, he prodded. “Ye don’t believe in what?”

She was going to say “eternal damnation,” but remembered it was never a good idea to discuss religion—especially her religion—with any but like-minded practitioners of the craft. And even then, it could lead to heated disagreement.

Turning at last, she met his eyes, an astonishing shade of gold—like topazes or whisky backlit by the sun. They also were so gnawingly familiar she wanted to scream.

She tried to speak, to wrench her eyes away, but couldn’t seem to. Images of heather and bracken, of misty hills and crystal lochs, washed over her like a dream. What in the name of the goddess was happening to her?

Unable to bear his riveting gaze any longer, she turned back to the table, winded and shaken. She took a couple of breaths to slow her pulse and regain control. As he reached past her to return Dracula to its place, her eyes followed his hand—a sculptural marvel with long fingers tapering from furrowed knuckles to lustrous nails. She shivered as she imagined those fingers traveling over her flesh. He smelled good, too. Natural and earthy. Like a walk in the woods on a crisp autumn morning.

“How do I know you?” She had to force the words through her throat. “Have we met before?”

“Oh, aye.” His breath brushed her ear. “A couple of times.”

Title: Charity’s Secrets
Author: Maya James
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: December 12, 2013

The unbridled heat continues between the beautiful Charity Powers and her gorgeous and passionate assassin for hire, Justin Collins. He exists only to love her and keep her safe, but that’s not so easy when she is such a force of life. Charity makes it her mission to heal Justin’s wounded path, but to do it, she must hide terrible, dangerous secrets from him that risk their entire relationship.

The holidays arrive filled with wonderful sentiments that leave each of these lovers closer than ever, but just as the celebrations come to a close, one of their dearest friends is brutally attacked. There needs to be retribution, and both Justin and Charity deliver it. In the process, evidence of a traitor is discovered on the Panther team, jeopardizing not just everything they’ve worked for—but their very lives.

Discovering Charity’s secrets devastates Justin, but his broken heart is no rival to the fury of learning that his beautiful obsession is being hunted. Rescuing her leads him to the truths of this past.

Nothing can contain Justin’s devotion and intensity. Charity has to be kept safe. The traitor and their enemies, personal and political, must be eliminated if they are going to survive.

Short Excerpts

“There’s no war to wage, no battles to fight tonight, Warrior.” He kisses my head again. “Go to sleep.”

He touches my chin gently and runs his warm finger along my jaw as he stares into my soul. He sets his promise into me with his eyes. Then he takes both hands and holds my face. “You are my world. You’re all I need to survive.”

“Take your fucking clothes off! You want to feel close and I want you to beg. We’re going to have both.” His eyes are on fire, fueled by raw desire. “I ache to feel you; I miss the musky scent of you, the sweet taste of you flooding my mouth, and I can’t wait another minute.”

Long Excerpt:

The bathroom door pushes open easily exposing the brightness inside, the light colored walls and marble counter. Justin is in the shower and the curtain hides him from his chest down, but the top is transparent. Water streams down his head and shoulders before he sees me. Then he notices me in the doorway, looking haggard and drained, and I watch his concern overtake his expression and posture. His prefect green eyes beckon me in. “Undress,” he says with soft control, pulling the shower curtain open.

I realize my hands are obeying him, undoing and dropping clothing to the floor around my feet. I cross the room and step in with him. The hot water feels incredible.

Justin’s arms wrap around me and he draws me in, leaning my fatigued body against the warmth of his. “Just relax, Warrior. There’s nothing for you to do right now, nothing to think about. I have you.”

My soul collapses into his arms, and he holds me up as promised.

“Let go,” he says. “You do so much for everyone, Charity. You do so much for me that I don’t know what I’d do without you now, and you deserve a break. I’ll take care of you.”

The hot water rushes all around us, drenching the knots from my muscles. His strong hands press into my sides and back, his solid body gives me comfort.

“I’ll do everything and be everything that you need, because you do that for me every day,” Justin continues.

A long, exhausted breath explodes from my chest onto his neck where my head rests. For a short while I can’t even move.

Eventually I find my strength and I begin supporting my own weight again. Justin steps us back deeper into the water, drenching us. He carefully fixes my wet hair away from my face. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispers. I feel his lips press onto the top of my head.

One of his arms lets go and grabs my shampoo from where I left it yesterday. Its familiar scent wafts into the shower before he even begins rubbing it into my hair. He turns me and dumps the shampoo on, letting me do nothing while he massages my scalp. When he’s done, he rinses it out thoroughly and picks up my body wash.

It amazes me how gentle he can make his touch, with hands that have beaten and killed. They’ve strangled the life out of people but on me they are tender and caring, kneading the life back in to me. He massages my back deeply with the body wash and starts working his way around my body. My nipples do not resist the chance to harden as he rubs them.

“Every inch of you is breathtaking,” his soft voice convinces me.

He rinses the soap off me before continuing with new, fresh lather. The pressure he uses on my feet and calves relaxes them so much they don’t want to hold me up. He slides over my wet thighs and ass, gently cupping my warrior parts.

Of course they react, tingling and twitching, begging for more, but I don’t think that’s Justin’s objective tonight. I want whatever he’s offering, I don’t want to think.

Gently, he pulls me closer, embracing me with one arm so that we are buried in each other’s necks and the length of our bodies are touching. My hands go to his tight sides, as if we might dance in the water.

Justin is still cupping my vulva. Softly, his fingers move through the wet folds of my labia, not entirely penetrating into me, but not teasing me, either.

I squeeze his sides gently, letting him know to continue.

His finger slips up the middle and finds my clitoris. Justin’s thumb pulls its hood back, and his finger begins circling on my swollen tip. My breath spills out into his neck and chest, deepening with each moment.

By my ear, I feel his soft lips. “Relax, Warrior. I won’t hurt you. There won’t be any teasing; you don’t need to beg. Tonight I’m the one begging. I’m begging that you relax and let life catch up to you.”

The tingling becomes throbbing under his steady finger. I squeeze him again, telling him it’s getting close. My nipples are sliding around the wetness on his chest, and I feel like I’m wrapped in a blanket of warm pleasure.

Now the throbbing is nearly reaching my ears. My entire body is looking for this release.

I feel my hips rocking against him.

Just a moment more.

Nearly there.

Don’t—

Stop.

Yes…Christ!

I’m really grabbing his sides now, fingers digging in to hold this moment to its fullest.

Everything leaves me in a satisfying rush and Justin pulls me closer, as if he’s taking all of my problems from me, all of my tension. My moans and pants are muffled into his strong neck. All of it floods out of me and is immediately washed away.

It takes a few minutes to regain myself. I can feel that my smile is back on my face like a loyal friend. Justin’s impressive hardness is pressing into me now as well and I make a move toward it.

“No,” he says in the same voice that had told me to undress earlier. “I told you, you’re not doing a thing tonight.”

Justin shuts off the water and pulls back the curtain. Before he helps himself, he opens a towel over my shoulders to keep me warm. He takes a second and towels off my hair and then wraps it up. With the one on my shoulders, he dries my body and then his.

Casually, he steps out and holds his hand out for me like a gentleman. After he assists me over the tub wall, his massive hands scoop me off the tiles.

“What are you doing?” I ask through a smile.

“You’re not even allowed to walk,” he replies through his own soft grin.

Justin carries me to the bed, sits me on the edge, and removes the towel to dry my hair further. When he’s satisfied with that, he pulls the covers back and asks me to lie down. I feel his warm body slide in next to me, and he wraps himself around me again, pulling the covers over us.

“There’s no war to wage, no battles to fight tonight, Warrior.” He kisses my head again. “Go to sleep.”

I RECEIVED AN ARC FROM THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

REVIEW OF ETERNALLY ALEX:

*I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest reveiw*

*Possible spoilers especially if you haven’t read the first two in the series*

3 out of 5 stars

I’m about 16% in to the book and I think they’ve had sex at least four to five times by now. I love a good sex scene but holy crap! I would much rather have a great story line. Also if I hear the words “it’s all about pleasure” or “you’re fucking fuckable” one more time I might scream! It was said several times in the first two book every time they had sex or he looked at her. Surely James’s vocabulary extends those two phrases. At this point I still believe Alex to be a whiny woman-child. Alex is a naive nitwit and all that drama with James’s mother, she should have stayed out. If the man says he doesn’t want to see the woman that abandoned him she should have agreed. Not get mad because she never had the chance to talk to her birth mother and take it out on James because he’s not interesting in finding out why his mother would walk out on him at six months. I just really don’t like Alex in any of the books. She tries to pressure other people to do things but gets mad if she feels pressured. I just feel like she’s always making James do something HE doesn’t want to do. He just ends up doing because he doesn’t want her unhappy and she doesn’t care about his happiness.

On a good note the bring in James’s mother was intriguing. Even though I found myself wondering what did she want it was enough to keep me reading. Even though I didn’t agree on how Alex pretty much backed James into a corner to meet her, I was interested enough to want to know why she was back all of a sudden. Minor things in the story kept me interested.

I was also given the other two books in this series by the author to read before this one. Overall a pretty good series but not one I would probably read again. I would give the series overall a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It’s a pretty good read to pass the hours but I wasn’t so wrapped up in it that i had to read it NOW. I took a few breaks here and there.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FROM THE AUTHOR

1- What is your favourite book that you have written?
I love Freeing Alex for no other reason other than it was my first, but really I like them all.

2-What is your favourite book by another author?
The Education of Sebastian and The Education of Caroline – Jane Harvey-Berrick, both of these stayed with me for days.  But I also adore the Black Dagger Brotherhood and could happily re-read and re-read – Sadly Phury was removed as the screensaver on my phone, I now have Rhage! (A girls to dream!)

3-What do you like to do in your spare time when not writing?
My family sails, although we’re all a bit fair-weather, cooking and reading, of course.  Oh, and I love a night out dancing with the girls a few Strawberry Bellini, but no more vodka, not ever again!

4-Is there any authors that inspired you to write?
Lots, but particularly new authors that came from nowhere.

5-Do you listen to music while writing if so who or what genre?
I sometimes listen to music, other times I like total silence. My musical taste is eclectic and ranges from Beethoven to Rizzle Kicks!

6-Have you any upcoming books you’d like to tell us about?
Well, Eternally Alex is now complete and ready to launch – so excited!  I’m aworking on another novel, working title is Never Say Love. It’s Benito’s story, a sort of prequel to Freeing Alex.  It won’t be part of the series, and has been written after I received a number of requests from my readers.  Once that’s done, there is another that is started but was shelved so that I could work on Never Say Love, that’s nothing to do with Alex at all.

7- Tell us some interesting facts about yourself?
·               I’m a true Piscean and have an over active imagination.
·               I’m a Staffordshire girl through and through.
·               I’m not scared of spiders, they all send for me when they find one.

AUTHOR BIO:

Sarah Elizabeth Ashley is a first time British writer born and raised in the Midlands county of Staffordshire where she still lives today with her family.

Forbidden to use her ‘real’ name by her children Sarah has said for years that she had a book “in her” But, finally finding the time, she quite literally let the words flow as her first novel, Freeing Alex, was created, the characters coming to life on her laptop, followed by Loving Alex, Eternally Alex, and more to come with fourth novel currently being written.

She describes herself as a true Piscean with an over-active imagination and says that it took a great deal of courage to release ‘Freeing Alex’ however, motivated by her husband and family she finally took the plunge and self published in August 2013.

“It started as a hobby, now it’s a passion.”

A few days ago I made it to the 10K mark on my second novel in my Dark Indiscretions Series. So for the weekend I decided I was going to hit 20K. Well I’m definitely going to hit my mark. I pushed out 2K Friday night while simultaneously hanging out with friends and yesterday managed around 6K. Crazy right?! So today as I sit at a little over 18K I’m ecstatic that I will be blowing that 20K goal out of the water. I have an overall goal of 50K and with the way the story has been following lately I can be done in the next month with a first draft. The second time around the words are coming much faster and the story developing nicely. I have the cover done this time way before so I can do one of those fancy Cover Reveals when I’m close to publishing. This one will also be self published. I thought taking 3 classes would slow down my writing but I’m finding a nice balance. I still find time to read for pleasure, review, and help other indie authors promote their work with cover reveals, and anything else on my blog. This year as started over amazingly and I have nowhere to go but up from here! I’m also doing my first Author Takeover at Book Cracker Caroline on Facebook Jan. 16, 8-10 pm EST. If you have a moment be sure to check it out. Giving away some prizes, tidbits, and such. Should be loads of fun! My second one will be Feb. 2, the day before my Book Blast and it will take place on the page Panty Dropping Book Blog. I’m nervous and bouncy.

So how’s your new year so far? Everything you hoped and more?

Here is a picture of the AMAZING cover art done by Su Halfwerk of  REACH FOR THE STARS

Click the picture of the cover and it will take you to the Facebook page. It is still a WIP (so don’t freak out if nothing is really on there yet) and later today I will be uploading the Dark Indiscretions Ebook cover.
